"Trying to find the person who gave the prophecy. No idea where they were going, but we had to split up."

"Ah, prophecy. Isn't splitting up typically a bad thing in any scenario like that?"

"I wouldn't know, I haven't read many books about prophecies. But we had two things to do and it's easier to disguise two people than four."

Arthur nodded. "Yes, I see the logic behind that. Regardless, you're going to have a hard time in this city."

Melody laughed. "I think we already have. We were going to leave, but Ellis said he needed to train me in sword fighting. So we came back... to get a scabbard."

"Yes, it does seem like you've found trouble. Now, what is this about a scabbard?"

"For this giant sword I was given by a knight. It needed a scabbard so I didn't have to carry it because it's really heavy, so we came to get one and Ellis was interested by the rumors of mafia."

"Hmm, well I suppose there might be a lesson or a moral to this whole situation; let me know if you ever figure that out. Besides, I wouldn't be worried about the Mafia. I would think that a Cult of Death is far more dangerous."

"Yeah, it sounded dangerous when that woman explained it to us. Sometimes the most dangerous people are the ones willing to do bad things to accomplish good goals. And I'm not the best with morals."

Arthur smiled. "I'm a clerk for a Mafia, so I think that I'm not exactly the best guy to give advice about morals. Do yourself a favor, never get involved with the Death Angels, they will destroy you and everything you love."

Melody finished a page and flipped it. "I'll try to stay away. What about the other group, the... what was it? Infinite Opposition, I think."

Arthur furrowed his brow. "I don't know much about those folk. They are very secretive and small from my understanding; other than that, I don't know much. I'm going to assume that they are opposing something, although if they're opposing us, then they aren't doing a good job at it."

"Yeah, the woman told us that they're against the mafia but they're too small to do much good."

"Don't know why they would fight against us in the first place, we keep this counting city from falling apart. What's so bad about a mafia anyways?"

"Generally, they have too much power and abuse it, beating down the littler people. It's definitely not true in every case, though. Sounds like yours is a good mafia."

"See? You get it. People say we're lawless, but we just follow our own laws. Now, where is your friend?"

By the way, you are really only getting one side of the story. In case you couldn't tell.

I know. I'm not entirely sure whether Melody actually believes him or is just getting everything that she can, it's probably a combination. She's naive, but not that naive. She takes things with a grain of salt.

"I don't know, I'm kind of getting worried. What did he say he was going to do?"

"Hmm? Oh, he was going to help me get information, then everything would be settled."

"Information? Doesn't seem like Ellis to me. But I guess no one knows him well, given that he's lost his memories."

I went back and checked. The deal they made was only about the sword and Ellis, Melody wasn't mentioned once except to say that it was her sword.

"He seemed fairly confidant when he left, so I assumed that he had some sort of experience with it. Well, nothing to be done about it now, we did make a contract."

Arthur is one of those who believes in the spirit of the contract, and he told Ellis that Melody would be safe with him. He views that as part of the contract.

"Can we, I don't know, go find him or something?"

Oh, right. *thumbs up* I'll remember that... hopefully.

"Maybe, but I did say that I would keep you safe here. Letting you leave would be breaking the contract."

"Well, but the spirit of the agreement was that I'd be safe. It doesn't really matter what the location is, right? If you and your friend there come, won't I still be safe?"

Arthur thought about it for a second. "Before we do anything, we wait for my other associate. I'm not saying that we're leaving, I'm just saying that I'm considering it."
