+JesterLavorre she/they Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 Hello. I’ve been reading The Shard for awhile but finally got around to making an account (yay!). I’ve read all the published Cosmere. My radiant order is Truthwatcher. As you may be able to tell by my name, I am also a Critical Role fan, and Jester is my favorite character from C2.
Mist she/her Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 Welcome to the Shard! What's your favorite magic system? How did you find out about us?
+Krox he/him Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 Greetings and welcome! Enjoy your stay, people here are great

Before I knew about the Cosmere I finished the Stormlight Archive and was looking for answers to some lore questions I had about it. I found the Coppermind first and discovered there were other books in the same universe as stormlight, so that was a pretty fun revelation. My favorite magic system is fabrials. I like how they feel like a science that could actually exist, and it’s fun to theorize about all the possible things you could do with them. 1
Honorless he/him Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 Welcome to the Shard! How did you find Sanderson?
Koloss17 She/They Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 Hello! Shardage is really fun, so I’m glad you joined. What’s your favorite theory regarding mixing magic systems?
Scout_Fox he/him Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 Yay glad you got around to making an account as well! Nice to have you here! 10 hours ago, JesterLavorre said: Before I knew about the Cosmere I finished the Stormlight Archive and was looking for answers to some lore questions I had about it. I remember this day... many an eon ago where I discovered there were more books, books that exist in the same universe, books that share similarities and characters across worlds, books that part the waters and unite nations, BOOKS THA- Ok maybe not so preachy but yes this is honestly one of the better days of my life when I realized there were more books and they all were in the same universe and that they all had shared connections and similarities and I absolutely positively just had to read EVERYTHING!! So glad you found it and us! 10 hours ago, JesterLavorre said: My favorite magic system is fabrials. This is so true wow that's a really awesome way to think about it!! I totally agree it feels like something we could accomplish and maybe bring a bit of the magic here into the real (but I mean who's to say Brandon isn't actually just from another universe ) world! Welcome to the Shard!
AonEne he/him Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 Welcome to the Shard! I know we’ve got a Critical Role thread around here somewhere...

That was, like, 6-10 years ago when I was a lot less adventurous about my reading than I am now, so I would only really read books from authors I already knew. That made it easy to get into reading even more Sanderson books. 12 hours ago, Koloss17 said: Hello! Shardage is really fun, so I’m glad you joined. What’s your favorite theory regarding mixing magic systems? Huh. I don’t look at a ton of theories on The Shard, but I like the idea that Vyre’s knife could somehow be related to Nightblood and/or hemalurgy somehow, in addition to being a fabrial. 6 hours ago, Scout_Fox said: This is so true wow that's a really awesome way to think about it!! Welcome to the Shard! Less that we could actually make fabrials in the real world, and more that fabrial science feels like a real-world science when characters like Navani talk about it in-world. 3 hours ago, Scout_Fox said: Linked to make it easier to find and enjoy to your hearts content!! Thanks! I’ll take a look.

Ohh yeah totally I see what you mean now (I was thinking similar sorts of technologies but this makes more sense)!! Yes those parts do have really realistic methods as far as the ways they approach the in world science. Good connection! Edited August 27, 2020 by Scout_Fox
