"Then put me in the back to start and move me forward. If you really think I should be in the front, however, then I'll obey."

Psyder snorted. "It will be a good day if there is anything but a front line. But enough of that. Battle begins at noon, so you have two options- leave now and travel on foot, or have someone teleport you when the time comes."

"Teleportation. I think I need the practice."

She means practicing her powers, or practicing teleportation?

She's going to take the time to practice her powers. She can't teleport, duh. :P

No, but teleportation... isn't the easiest, even for the carry-on. If she didn't have a withergeist, it wouldn't even be an option, since she would likely just die.

Psyder grinned. "Very well. Then we fight."

Shadow snaked into bands around him. With blinding speed, he moved to attack, dagger glinting.

Herate dashed away, getting enough space to pause. She summoned her claws and realised that she'd forgotten her other powers. She searched her mind frantically and remembered that she could radiate calm. Well, that doesn't help much - but I'll try it.

Herate focused on the points she'd felt earlier and tried to direct it towards herself.

I don't know enough about the system. Would it work?

"Fascinating," said Psyder, intrigued, throwing a knife at her. "More useful than I initially gave it credit for, I must admit."

I feel like this could also clear her mind, giving her increased mental capacity. What do you think?

She dodged out of the way, forgetting her telekinesis again.

"Telekinesis, princess," called Psyder. "Don't forget it. That may be the difference between whether you return a hero or a pile of ashes." He jumped towards her, knives out.

That depends. Psyder's power ranges from dread to panic, so I imagine Herate's would be similar- ranging from clear-headedness to empty-headedness.

She slashed at him with her claws, ducking to avoid any knives he might throw, and stepped to the side.

Psyder ignored the claws raking down his side and drawing blood, pressing his attack.

Herate spun away and remembered one of her other powers - enhancing her strength. She built it up and jumped, testing the limits so she could be more careful about it.

"Be sure you do," called Psyder, moving to intercept her landing.

She reached out with her claws. "I'll try my hardest. By the way, I'd like to keep my bag with me."
