"Is there any method that I could use...oh, maybe in like...five minutes?

"None that would actually work. The first step to combat is mindset; the second step is actual training. Speaking of which... you need a weapon." Fadran began digging through his backpack. "Sword? Dagger? Longbow? Slingsh--why the heck do I have a slingshot?"

"Gun? Phaser? Lightsaber? Shockstaff? Acid gloves?"

"Whichever you think I'd be best at."

"Well, see, that's the problem. Like, you have a spearguy kind of build, but at the same time I feel like you should be wielding something a little less clunky."

Vale opens a portal and sticks his arm and head through, then comes out holding a long stick, about 4 and a half feet long. He presses a button and a plasma blade appears at the end. "How's this?"

"Weapons like that shouldn't be used by inexperienced people; way too easy to chop your own face off or stab someone in the back."

After a short walk, the group reached the shore behind the fortress. A few feet away, another smaller island was visible. "The real entrance to my base is on that island. There's a stretch of land that sort of acts like a bridge, but it's pretty narrow, and it's not exactly straight either. I'll lead the way, and you all should try to follow the exact path I take."

"On a scale of one to eleven, how exactly should we follow your path?"

"About a nine. The exact footing doesn't matter, but the path is usually about two feet wide."

"I've always thought daggers are pretty cool; plus they're the most easy to use with medical stuff, too."

"Dual daggers, then? That works. The best mindset for a dagger-wielder is to get in and get out. You spring at your opponent whenever you get the chance, and get back out before they can get you back."

"I think I can manage that."

"Good. Now... what kind of combat magic would you like to use?"

"There are different kinds?"

"Uhh... kinda? I guess you can make just about any magic combat magic if you try hard enough."

Queen looks a bit overwhelmed.

"Here. Allow me to back it up a little. Combat magic is just magic used offensively. In my case, that's slinging around fireballs and bending tiny stones at people. For you, that's more likely, uh... dunno, actually. I still don't have your form of magic completely figured out yet."

Tchanta, do you have any idea?

For a while, there was no response.

Well, you've got a lot of stuff you can do. Obviously, not all of it is well-learned, but maybe you could use all of it to confuse your enemy. Jump in, attack with your dagger, turn invisible, change position, attack again, pull some of their magic out...just keeping them distracted and confused.

"Do you think that'd work?" Queen asked Fadran, forgetting that he couldn't hear Tchanta.

"Being unnecessarily vague and silent? I suppose that could work."

"Oh! Sorry. I asked Tchanta for her advice, guess I forgot you can't hear her." Queen explained what Tchanta had suggested.

"Invisibility always works... teleportation is pretty good... hold up, did you say pull out other peoples' magic?"
