You guys, I'm too busy to post here! Oh my gosh, I'm trying to write my best post ever on The Caped Crusaders! *devious smile*

All right, I'm coming.

Herial looked into Fox's eyes. "You should sit down. Please let me check on some things."

Yes, let the tension build, ehehehehehehehehehehehehehehe

Fox jerked her head to the woman talking to her, it was that Herial again. "I don't have any time for that," she snapped, before softening her tone just a sliver, "I'll be fine, really."

"I don't think you will be. You're acting strange," said Herial cautiously.

Fox stumbled again as the ship tossed again, right into the approaching Queen, who had just said something. She grabbed onto Queen's shoulder steadying herself, and stood straight, taking a step back from Queen as soon as she felt sturdy, and tried to steady herself with a strong stance. As Fox spoke, her eyes flashed with anger, not at Queen of course, but she was still frustrated from the abrupt exit earlier. "What?" She asked sharply.

"I can't talk about it here; I get the feeling you wouldn't want me to. I'll be in the medbay, come when you're ready." Queen returned to the medbay and sat down.

What did Queen want to talk to her about? A seed of dread sprouted in the deep part of Fox's stomach. What could it be? Why was Queen acting so coldly? She needed to know. "How about this, I'll talk to Queen, and then you can prod at me with your little tools if it will make you feel better," she sneered. Fox knew she was being grumpy, but at this point she didn't really care. Something about how Queen had summoned her made Fox stick her hand on Nath's, or Circe's knife hilt, fingering it for comfort. Fox strolled toward the med bay, letting her hand drop from the knife.

Fox walked loudly into the room, narrowing her eyes on Queen. "What do you want?" She asked.

"I'm going to get right to the point. What happened when Winter kidnapped you the first time? I went into Nath's mind and saw the extreme pain you caused him. You seemed like you had a reason, though, so I'm going to give you the opportunity to explain yourself." Queen crossed her arms, fighting to seem in control, despite the fact that she was unarmed, while Fox had her hand on the hilt of a very sharp knife.

Fox stood there stunned for a moment, unsure how to respond. She felt her hands clenching, the rage coursing through her veins. In a swift movement, Fox slammed one of her fists into the wall, the sound echoing through the room. Fox also heard something crack. Whether it was the wall or her hand, Fox didn’t know. Her breathing had quickened, and Fox looked at the ground, her hand still on the wall. “It’s complicated.” She said quietly, not meeting Queen’s eyes.

"I have time for a complicated explanation." Queen stayed still, not reacting to Fox, staring sternly at her. "You need medical attention, and I won't let you receive it until I get a valid explanation."

Fadran stood outside the medbay, being careful to tune out anything that the two didn't want him to hear, which was probably everything.

Fox raised her stormy eyes to Queen. Why should Queen be the ones making the threats? Fox didn't need these people. Fox could just leave if she really wanted to... but then, she would have to leave Nath, the only one who actually cared for her. Fox wasn't sure if she was ready for that yet.

So she would find a way to stay... What had really happened? Fox didn't know, she didn't know why she had thought what she did. She didn't really know why she had done it. But that didn't make for the best defense, so Fox would explain everything away, like she always did. She would fill in the missing parts with something that sounded more likely, yes, perhaps that Winter had brainwashed her? No, she couldn't cast more hatred onto Winter. When it had come down to it, Winter had saved her, not Nath. She would have something better. Fox was very good at coming up with these things mid-sentence, she just had to start talking and the right things would come out.

But when Fox opened her mouth, those 'right' words did not come out. She stood there with her mouth open for a moment, not saying anything, until finally, Fox could no longer hold the gaze, and she let her eyes drop back to the ground. "I don't really have a valid explanation." Fox said in barely a whisper. A single, silent tear trickled slowly down her face. "Perhaps it would be best for everyone if I moved on."

Queen's eyes softened. "No, don't say that. I could tell that there was a reason; that's why I asked you about it before I told everyone else. Here, just tell me everything you remember about that time. Everything you saw, felt, experienced, heard...tell me everything. We'll figure this out, I promise. While I was in Nath's mind, I didn't just see the pain you caused him, but also the trust and love he has for you. If there wasn't a valid reason, or if you hadn't made up for your mistakes, I wouldn't have sensed that at all. You do have a valid explanation, you just have to tell it." She walked over to stand by Fox, placing a hand on her shoulder and lifting her face to meet her own eyes. "Just talk; that's all you have to do, okay?

Fox flinched at Queen's touch, but she removed her throbbing hand from the wall, and sat down. "I... ok." Fox took a deep breathe in, and then out. What was the worst that could happen? She reluctantly began to tell her story in a small voice, "Some stuff is... fuzzier in my brain than other stuff, but it all started when Nathrangking murdered my brother. It was when I was younger, and though I don't... I don't remember exactly when it happened, I know that Nathrangking used this... jeweled knife to end my brother. I've always had nightmares where he would show up and kill my brother, over and over and over again-" Fox choked, but kept going. "Nathrangking was... hunting me, I thought, but then, there was this... I mean, Winter-Winter always saved me before Nathrangking got too close to me, until this one time.

"I remember Nathrangking stabbing me right here, with that accursed knife" Fox placed a hand over the wound, it was still very much not healed, and hurt very badly when she moved too much. "Winter was at my side and I was sure I was going to die, but he saved me. He... and Korin, they both were always very kind to me," Fox's face showed a hint of a smile, "They used to always call me Little Fox, like my brother would." Her face darkened again, "but while I was still recovering with Winter, Nath... showed up. I tried to run away, but he chased me down in the woods. He said... he said didn't know why I was running, and that I should kill him. He gave me a knife and everything, and-" Fox choked again, silent tears were streaming down her face. She sniffed and continued, "And I thought it was a trap at first, but I knew death was... too good an end for one as evil as Nath."

Fox looked away, she couldn't even stand to look at Queen at all. "I-I was angry, but I knew there was something wrong, something off about the whole encounter. I didn't even know what was going on," Now Fox let a little of her frustration rise in her voice, "beyond the fact that the person who ruined my life and was constantly trying to kill me was giving me the opportunity to hurt him." Her voice lowered again as the regret returned, "so... I did."

Fox stayed quiet for a few moments letting it sink in. She sniffed, and wiped the tears off her face with her hoodie sleeve, which didn't do much besides smearing tears all over her face.

She continued in a tiny voice, "Nath said that he didn't kill my brother, and I eventually believed him, but then... I just, I remember it happening!" Verbalizing this was bringing back some of Fox's doubts. "He said he didn't stab me, but why do I have a stab wound? What happened to me? Why did Winter save me?!" She sighed, returning to her quiet voice. "But, for some reason I trust him. I don't know why. Then Nath fell into a coma, I tried to... save him, but failed, and then he woke up, brought us to you guys, and fell back asleep. And... I felt so helpless, I still feel so helpless!"

Fox sighed. "That is why I don't have a valid explanation. I have lost any grasp I thought I had on reality."

The mindscape vanishes from around Circestran as Fox disappears. She is pulled through darkness. Her form explodes back into the real world. Circestran feels nothing as an unfamiliar ship bursts into view. She sees a stranger talk to Fox and lead her away. Light as air she follows unseen. Her steps take her to room filled with odd machines. Circestran stops in front of  Fox and beside the strange woman. She listens in silence as they speak. When Fox talks Circestran goes deathly still and all of the emotions drain from her. Her face becomes as opal frozen and unfeeling. Scarlet light ripples across her body as she listens. Tears spill down her face as the story unfolds. She falls to her knees and all of her pain crashes like a rapid wave. Space shatters around her. She calls no weapons,  but she sobs. More and more power flows off of her. She looks up at Fox. "Did you believe him capable of hurting your brother? He let you hurt him because he thought that that was what you needed most. I almost killed him many a time Fox. He could have defeated me, but he never did. Love was why he did what he did Fox. Would you betray that love?" The scarlet arcs of magic continue to pour off of her.

Rish nods a seemingly amused look forming on her face. "I will teach you how to do far more than those parlor tricks." Rish snaps her fingers and the room becomes a dark void. "Use your will. Try and shape this realm.s"

"Fox why do you think that he has done everything that he has done? Trust and love are not so easily divorced. Look within yourself. Does it make sense than Nath would murder your brother? Do his actions seem to you like one who would kill and then toy with you. He could have killed you had he wanted to. Why didn't he? Why did he give you the chance to kill him without fighting back? He gave you every chance to kill him. This Winter used words, but did his actions reflect his words. Words are cheap promises Fox. What do Nath's actions tell you?" The scarlet magic pulses with Circestran's subdued voice. Her emotions flow with her tears.
