Fadran looks up, gasping. "Queen!" Fadran yells. "Queen! Nath and Fox are back!"

He gets to his feet, dashing towards them but slowing down not far before them. Nath was unconscious on the ground, but he seemed peaceful. And Fox... Fadran couldn't be tell for sure, but she wasn't the same alleycat that had joined their Fellowship not long ago.

"What happened?" He asked her.

Fox stood there, dirt and blood smudging her face, her hoodie still darkened around her stomach. A bit of white bandage peeked through the rip in her hoodie from when she was.... stabbed. (just cause I forgot to describe her when she first appeared)

"Fadran.... Fadran." Fox's head throbbed as she repeated the name trying to remember. When she spoke her words were strained. "I get the feeling that... I should... trust... you.... but... I don't... know.... why...." Fox's knife clattered to the ground as she raised both hands to her head. "I.... think Nath mentioned you. He said he... failed you, but I didn't know what he meant" She looked back up at Fadran. "Are you really... a friend?"

Queen has healing training, not necessarily lots of healing powers that she can use, though.

Queen had heard Fadran approach her while sitting on the rocks, but just ignored him, hoping he would leave, until Fox and Nath appeared. Queen stood, but stayed behind for a bit until she noticed how confused Fox was. She dashed toward her, pulling her hat from her head and rummaging through the toolbelt. Tchanta scampered from her head to her shoulder, watching Queen as she pulled out some sort of flashlight. "Fox, I know you don't know me or any of us, but Herial over there can help Nath. I can help you. I need you to look in my eyes so that this won't blind you." She proceeded to shine the bright light into Fox's eyes, testing the dilation. "She's concussed." Searching through her toolbelt more, Queen emerged with multiple herbs, a flask of water, and a small, light bowl. She carefully poured the water into the bowl, then ripped some of the herbs, putting them in the lukewarm water. She searched around herself until she found a good stick to mash the leaves and water into a paste. After she had done so, she handed the bowl to Fox. "I need you to eat this if you want to feel better. Again, I know you don't remember me and have no reason to trust me, but I promise you that this will help."

Nope!

Also I'm doing what Nath told me to do. Just ignore me.

Herial bent over Nath's body, then inserted a tube into his lung to allow the air to escape. She sat back. "That's all I can do for now, but I don't think it's too serious, other than the pain. I have something for that." She pulled a little tub of something out of her bag, then rubbed it across Nath's chest.

The funniest thing happened in band today. (It was the first day of band) So I walk in early, and am getting out my trumpet and start oiling the thing while I’m waiting for the others to arrive. Then my conductor starts addressing the band, and I keep oiling away. She says something about electing a band president or something organizing the students when we change buildings, and I hear my name muttered, so I look up to find literally every present band member pointing at me saying I should be the president. I’m just like, “hi there?” So there’s an official vote and everything, and my conductor asks if I want to say a few words. So I drop my trumpet, and go up to the front of the classroom. “I’m so excited to be the president this year, and I hope to lead us to a new era of quality and collective excellence. The first thing that I will do to change, is our disciplinary system.” I keep my face completely straight as I say this, “As I will be in charge of leading the students over from the main building, I will make sure there is no foolery. I unfortunately won’t be able to go with my normal tactic, which includes rapping your wrists with my metal ruler, but I have a better solution that will maintain social distancing while keeping the same affect.” I walk a couple paces over, and grab a meter stick that was resting on the wall there. I tap my hand with a couple times like one would do with a club. “I will be using this meter stick generously this year. So you best watch out.” I point two fingers at my eyes, and then at them as I step down. I turn to see a horrified look on my band director’s face, and I can no longer hold it in. My friend has to help me back to my seat cause I was laughing so hard. “Behold!” I barely get through as I get re-settled. “The new era of band!”

Edit: After re-reading this, I realize that a bit of context could help to understand the situation. When 5/7 of your siblings are literal geniuses, and your parents are two of most influential admins of the school, there is a very... different expectation placed on you.

One of the stereotypes that is placed on me often, is that I am super serious, never joke, and a strict rule follower and enforcer. So, as the fox that I am, I take advantage of that and entwine it in my humor. It makes it a lot easier to lead people on. :P

Fox watched closely as the woman ate a bit of the concoction. Fox guessed that she might as well risk it. What was there to lose, really? She scooped a handful of the paste out and into her mouth, towards the back. She swallowed before her tongue had time to recognize much of the taste, it was a trick her... someone taught her, for when eating disgusting substances. She wiped her hand off on the side of her hoodie.

"So.... I knew you guys?" Fox asked to the general public.

"Yes." Queen relaxed once Fox had taken the medicine. "Does anywhere else hurt? Feel off? Anything?"

Fox clutched her knife harder. Of course she minded. "You may change them, however I suggest you take my knife first. Otherwise I cannot ensure your safety. I don't respond well to this type of thing." Fox reluctantly made her arm reach out with the knife, holding it for Herial to take. She willed her fingers to stop clutching the hilt. She willed her fingers to stop clutching the hilt. She willed her fingers to stop clutching the hilt. Welp. "Good luck with that...."

Herial smiled kindly and took hold of the knife. "This is fine, we can both hold on." She unwrapped the bandages around Fox's torso, then grimaced at how it looked. Well, at least it isn't covered in dirt or gravel this time, she thought. She made a pad of bandages, still holding on to the knife, and pressed it against the wound. "Can you press on that?" she asked, letting go of the knife to pull more bandages out of her bag. I'm going to need more of those soon. She made a mental note and continued.

“mthm-yes” Fox barely got through her gritted teeth, before bringing down her hand that wasn’t clutching the knife, and pressing the bandage with it. It wasn’t so much the pain, which was excruciating, but more of the fact that Fox was putting herself at the mercy of another. That was not something she liked to do much.

Aw, I wanted something about how nice and understanding Herial was and beginning to trust her! Eh, it's fine.

Herial took the bandage pad back and started re-wrapping Fox's torso. "Try not to move that too much. I know that's probably stupid to tell you, but I'm going to anyway just in case you'll listen." She finished, put the bloody bandages in a separate cloth bag she had in her bag, and stepped away from Fox. "Thank you for letting me." She smiled and pulled the bright red stamp off of her arm, becoming Herate again.

By the time the process had finished, Fox’s knuckles were white from gripping her knife. She had barely kept it aback, but there was something about this... Herial, that radiated warmth. Something told Fox that even without Herial’s steady hand on the knife, Fox never would have actually stabbed her.

“Thank you,” Fox said softly. “Are you sure Nath is okay?” She glanced back at Nath laying in a tranquil slumber.

“Oh. Well, then. I will be waiting for him when he does.” Fox walked over to Nath, and settled down, her legs crossed. Seeing Nath so peaceful, caused exhaustion to wash over Fox for the first time all day. She had not allowed herself to slow down, so she had not felt tired. No, Fox could not sleep. She could not leave Nath, not now...

Actually not. Herial handled the physical wounds admirably, but there is more at play it is not likely that he wakes up so easily. My suggestion in the chat might come in handy about now.

I'm going to keep this short and sweet, because Fadran when you take advantage of the bond you shall see a great deal. Like what happened to Fox and Nath. (Nath having given away all of his love and warmth included.)

I feel a presence. Something tentative reaches into my mind. It comes through the open gates that I have not the will nor the strength to close. The numbness holds me and here I remain.

Fadran enters Nathrangking's mind.

It is ruined--broken. Like a battlefield, with weapons and flags strewn about, the wind picking up to pelter any unfortunate enough to remain alive with dust and smoke.

Empty.

"What happened to you, Nath?" Fadran asks, looking around Nathrangking's ruined mind. "What happened?"

Quote

This is going to be my method for pulling the two stories together. I will likely definitely be making some changes to help fit the story beats and stuff.

Fadran relives Nath's memories, finding whatever impressed upon Nath's Spirit to remanifest itself. For a time... Fadran became one with Nathrangking.

"Winter... I told you that we were not done. Let her go. I am who you desire most." Nathrangking looks to Fox. "I told you I would be here for you, Fox."

Fox gasped. "N...Nath?"

"I told you, Fox... I am not going anywhere." He turns his attention to Winter and Autumn. "You must be of the darkness that has plagued Fox. Begone, your power is broken."

Winter glared at Nathrangking. "Hm... I suppose I agree with this invader. But I advise all of you to leave as soon as possible. I'm looking forward to spilling some blood today."

"I think I'll take you up on that..." The Fox tries to pull away from Winter's iron grip.

"Let her leave Winter. Let them all leave. What can they give you that I cannot? I will stay if you let them go to the place of their choosing and you never do anything to them again." Nath turns back to Fox. "Fox when you go, leave your demons behind. I would have been here sooner, but I had demons of my own to exorcise. You alone can defeat them. You are a survivor. You have made it. You control your past it does not control you. It will whisper lies into your ears. It will tell you that you deserve to suffer and that you are weak. It promises to save you if you give in. It can say nothing else for you have survived it and moved beyond it. Desperation makes it speak these words. There is no other way for it to gain control. It took me until now to realize this."

"Wait, Nath, no!" Fox protested. "No, you can't give yourself up. Not since... since Alice died... one demon or another has always been in control. There isn't much for me to live for any longer. No one loves me... and I don't love anyone! You're so powerful, and honorable--they need you!" Her voice shakes. "They don't need me."

Nath takes a step closer to her, a well of emotion springing up. "I believed as you do now for eleven thousand years, Fox. I failed so many people--so many more than I helped. I ran from this demon... his shadow holding me in a suffocating embrace. I could never escape him. I would close my eyes, and there he was; accusing me. I sealed myself away so that I could escape him and never fail anyone ever again. It did not help. It made things so much worse. I thought that I deserved to suffer, and so I did. How could I ever move beyond this? Alone I could not."

A tear fell onto the ground.

"As I battled it in this place, I was not alone. You were there Fox. You were there, they were there... Even though my battle was doomed from the start, I fought and fought... and now I can live knowing that the demon exists, but has no more power over me. You are not alone. You are not unloved. You have them and you have me."

There was silence, until Winter sighed.

"Ah, I gave you all a chance, but apparently you don't value your lives." Winter turned to Fox. "Fox: take your knife. Kill him."

Fox gasped, taking a step back away from Winter. "Wh...what?"

"Kill the one who calls the wind. He is vulnerable; do it now! He tries to speak to you of love, but he himself has never truly felt it; that is why he deserves to die."

Her conflict... Nath could feel it, vibrating through the Mindscapes. Could it be possible that, in such a short amount of time, she had actually come to care for him? Had he done something right, for once?

The Fox's eyes flickered back and forth between Winter and Nath. "But... he came." She whispered, "Even if he has made himself vulnerable, he speaks from his heart. He risked himself to help me. He didn't abandon me, like... like everyone else..." Her eyes locked on to his. "He has given me strength."

"Do it!" Winter yelled. "Make the choice, Fox, or I'll do it myself."

"I... I don't know!" Fox protests, voice choked. "I'm so confused, and, and..."

Nath had nothing to say. He only watched with as much love and devotion as he felt.

If it was his time to die, then he would have it no other way than by the hand of a friend.

Fox stepped towards Nathrangking. "Please forgive me," she whispered, "I'm... I'm so, so sorry, Nath."

Nath closed his eyes, and a cry of pain resounded through the air.

It wasn't his.

Nathrangking opened his eyes in shock and surprise, then cried out as Fox collapsed onto herself. He caught her as she fell, blood seeping onto his fingers from the knife that she had rammed into her stomach.

"Fox!" He yelled. "FOX!"

"Why?" Winter asked, enraged. "Why, you idiot?"

"Don't you dare!" Nathrangking says to Winter. "Don't you dare insult her!"

Winter ignored Nathrangking. He was suddenly by Fox's side, removing the knife that still resided in her stomach. Fox cried out in pain; a sound that pulled at Nathrangking's soul and threatened to drive him mad.

Fox looked up, laughing lightly. "You... you came back for me."

"I did." Nath whispered, but at the same time, Winter spoke.

"That's right, Fox. Now come, let's leave this demon before he can hurt you further."

"Wait!" Nath cried.

But they were already gone.

Quote

Writing all that took me way longer than I'm willing to admit.

Fadran found himself back in the empty expanse of what was once Nathrangking's vast and mighty Mindscape. There was more to be seen... but it would take time to find.

I need to share this with someone. Fadran thinks to himself. Someone I can trust... and someone who can try to help Nath by knowing what happened to him.

In other words, there was really only one person.

Spirit Bond forged and connection put in place, Fadran began relaying what he had just seen--experienced--to Queen.
