Hi!

So I was re-reading WoR and in the Chapter 89 Dalinar has problems reaching the top of Urithiru due to the crem bloquing the trapdoor. But later, we are shown that the Hightstorms and Everstorms run under Urithiru, so how has de crem deposited on top of the city?

One friend has de theory that Urithiru is a fabrial itself and, specifically, a teleportation fabrial. That would explain the crem and how Nohadon could walk to Urithiru. Also it may explain why every nation maps Urithiru near it's capital (or maybe that's explained by the position of the oathgates)

Thanks!

Crem might not mean literal crem.  Rosharans use the word as a catch all to indicate almost any kind of dirt or gunk.  Also even though the main highstorm was below little partials of crem infused water might make it to the top and build up over two thousand years.

An old theory said that it was a spaceship but Brandon stated otherwise.  As to Nohadon walking their he might have gone through the tunnel that comes out near the valley or he may have gone between oathgates or from an none oathgate city to one with one.  We likely won't have the full answers until RoW at least.

I would guess a few epic highstorm reach high enough to deposit crem.

I thought about that, but Brandon spends an entire paragraph pointing that out. I supose in RoW we will learn more about it.

Cool.  So, Renarin agrees with you, that it's one giant Fabrial.  It certainly has Teleportation aspects to it, given that it's the hub of the Oathgates, but it also has a bunch of life support to run the city itself at the very least, and it's generally believed to have all kinds of other fun functions.  I personally doubt it literally moves, given how much it's described as being integrated into the Mountainside and carved from the stone, etc. I suspect the reason it was always treated/drawn as being close to the capitals of those nations is due to the Oathgates when they were active, since by travel time (if not by geography) it's close to all of them at the same time.

I see three possibilities offhand:

  1. They just have to occasional highstorm of that reaches the top, even if most dont, so over the centuries it get a little exposure, whcih would explain why its present but so much less actual accumulation than at ground level.  Might not even be actual highstorms so much as just highstorm wind and mist that got up there and carried tiny amounts of crem.
  2. It's other junk that got crammed in there and wedged the door closed that was crem-like to Dalinar but is not literal Highstorm crem
  3. It accumulated through some completely different supernatural mechanism, possibly relating to Urithiru's status as a super-fabrial.  Crem is not actually understood, but is invested and supernatural, and is (in a really vague way) something like Shard poop. It's the magical mechanism that keeps the continent in it's fractal shape and prevents it from washing away.
