Now, screw Kindle nowadays, but are the books good? There seems to be a lot. There's 12 books, though they're also pretty average sized. Around 400-600 for most books, though funnily enough some of the books actually make the font size smaller to fit more words without dramatically raising the page count and they STILL look way thicker than the other books. As for the quality, they're amazing. I've been reading them for about half a year, and it's been fantastic. My biggest issue is just that side characters feel very important in some books and then they drop off the face of the Earth for several books at a time, but that's very much a me thing.

Last bit does sound a bit worrying but at least they come back. That's more than some other stories do. Well, I guess I'll bump those up in my tbr. Issue being that my tbr is looking quite amorphous and unorganized atm.

Well, I guess I'll bump those up in my tbr. Issue being that my tbr is looking quite amorphous and unorganized atm. It depends on the character. Some of them don't come back. It's kind of an inevitable problem though. Since this is a cultivation novel, the mains are always advancing, and naturally they advance a lot faster than the side cast, so they tend to get left behind in terms of power by design (or they're on a tier of power way above the MCs, which is its own reason). It also doesn't really make sense for a lot of the side cast to follow them around. They show up when it makes sense for them to be there. Like it's not like it's unnatural. The side characters disappear either when the main characters outstrip their power and they're left behind in whatever location they were last at, or if they're too strong, when the characters can't have a supremely powerful crutch to lean on for the coming story. Honestly I hesitate to really call it a flaw.of the series, it's just something I've noticed and went "it's kind of sad that I haven't seen X or Y for four books"

I understand that not every character can contribute to the story indefinitely, but I will get attached to them regardless, I like to know how they're doing. I mean, on topic with this thread, a thing I like about Trails is that characters stick around forever to the point of cluttering the story, or if they disappear, we get updates on what they are doing. Reverie doesn't let you leave without telling you exactly what every Thors graduate is doing with their life, and that's beautiful. Also not a lot of experience with cultivation, I'm curious about that. Well I guess technically Lord of Mysteries is cultivation, but that works different I think.

Yeah you don't really get updates on people until they pop back into the story, with certain exceptions that are the top tiers of power. But also you kind of know what they're doing when you leave them. One character settles down with their family, another character ditches and goes back home. One weird thing I'll say that happens is that in one of the books, we're introduced to a character that is very close to one of the mains, and they spend the whole book training the main and trying to make them stronger. But then the main takes a path of advancement that they don't like, and we don't get to see their reaction to it after the fact or their farewell. And that's really weird. I haven't read Lord of Mysteries so I couldn't say. This is my first Cultivation
Eluvianii he/him Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Honestly same, if anything Cradle will be my first proper cultivation I suppose. Guess I'll see what it's like. Dude I forgot about the fake credits roll in Reverie. Was that just there for the creepy factor or was it supposed to be hinting at the super AI and the memories from a different timeline?

Eluvianii he/him Posted January 19 Posted January 19 (edited) I've been informed that apparently Rufus does not call himself Olivier Lenheim in his new life. My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined. (not really but would've been funny) Edited January 19 by Eluvianii
Eluvianii he/him Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Wait a minute. Swin is 3, Nadia is 9. The English word 'three' is pronounced in Japanese as SUrii. The word 'nine' NAin. SUin, NAdia. I'd say it's a little on the nose but it legit took me like 3 years to notice... I'm a sucker for thematic names though, this is neat.
Briar King Posted February 5 Posted February 5 Holy hell I just looked up Horizon last night and the ultimate editions that I always get for these games to give them love is $170 before tax.. That's like $40 higher than Day 2 which was already $15-20 higher than Day 1. That's starting to get to be a bit to crazy for me for a digital buy. I'm going to be in for a hell of a long wait for a 30% sale.

Briar King Posted February 5 Posted February 5 I typically do just cause they so small a company and have built such a enjoyable play experience and I want to support them but that's just starting to get to be a little to $ hungry to me. CS's, CB and Rev were fine but yeah Calvard 1 jump ups have just been annoying to watch unfold. I hope they get some push back on CV3 that they went to far and CV4 ain't so high...
Eluvianii he/him Posted February 5 Posted February 5 Tokyo Xanadu sequel this summer!!! I have questions!
aneonfoxtribute Posted February 5 Posted February 5 And might I just say, FINALLY IT TOOK LONG ENOUGH
Eluvianii he/him Posted February 5 Posted February 5 (edited) Still, og game had an open ending, pretty much confirming the protagonists would see more conflict in the future. Then this game seems to be in an alternate world, while the original was already pretty damn alternate with mechas in the military and stuff. Either each game from now on will be in its own version of Earth or they're setting something up. I think I'm cool with either. What are the odds that Kyoto was the capital since Tokyo Xanadu and it just wasn't mentioned, therefore making this the same reality? Gah, idk. Gonna replay TX regardless. Been telling myself for a while that I'd do it as soon as the sequel was announced. Edited February 5 by Eluvianii
Eluvianii he/him Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Well, we have an ending date. Taking this with a massive grain of salt but apparently our travels around Zemuria end in 2032. I guess there's only one arc left. Total of 5 then? We're removing one? Or are they gonna say that since Horizons is a new name that counted as the fifth? Either that or there's actually two left but they're actually gonna be shorter this time. If he keeps to his word, I can't believe it. Only 6 years left. We all knew this was coming eventually but, damn. Starting to feel real now.
aneonfoxtribute Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I don't trust Kondo lies but I am not surprised there's not a ton left anyway
aneonfoxtribute Posted April 13 Posted April 13 Bro I keep forgetting to post here..I finished Horizon a few weeks ago go, it was awesome, and I need the sequel now
Eluvianii he/him Posted April 15 Posted April 15 (edited) I keep hearing that. Like half the fandom was disappointed with Crimson Sin but then Horizons blew everyone's mind. And then Falcom took a year off to do Xanadu which is kinda funny but good for me. Edited April 15 by Eluvianii

Honestly I've seen a lot of disappointment for Horizon because it's the third game and we still don't have the payoff. All three games have been setup. I just think that what happens in Horizon is awesome setup so I don't care
Eluvianii he/him Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Super tangent but look at them, they're so cute! You can make anything on this thing istg. Desperately need a frilly dress for Renne.
Briar King Posted May 25 Posted May 25 Been a hot minute... I'm still chipping away on Grandia but I just bought Sky 1 since its 35% off. I'm a long way still from getting back to Zemuria but when I do I still plan on going to Calvard next.
