AonEne he/him Posted September 7, 2019 Author Posted September 7, 2019 Quote So who is Aqua? They are the same person.
xinoehp512 he/him Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 (edited) Quote Like, where did he come from? Perhaps, but they are different entities. Edited September 7, 2019 by xinoehp512
AonEne he/him Posted September 7, 2019 Author Posted September 7, 2019 Quote Sure, that works. Because they are the same person they're me.
xinoehp512 he/him Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 Quote I haven't written a backstory for him yet. He's a pseudoreal intellect. But you aren't unconscious in a Silverlight hospital, right? You're typing this out on your keyboard. There are two brains in this situation.

You're typing this out on your keyboard. OR AM I No, I'm not. But that doesn't mean it's not me. When you tell someone what you did yesterday, are you a separate person from the one you're talking about? What about when you daydream about being with someone - is the you of your daydream not you? This is like that.

This is like that. Quote But you aren't chronologically linked. Real-World Ene can never become In-World Ene, or vice-versa. I think I begin see what you're getting at, though. You have to keep in mind, however, that not every Narrator is going to be the same as their Author- not even Avatars, necessarily.
AonEne he/him Posted September 7, 2019 Author Posted September 7, 2019 Quote They're not happening at the same time, no. Maybe so; but this pair is.
xinoehp512 he/him Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 (edited) Quote But they are. To a point, yes. But you are determining what her future will be; the same can not be said the other way. The important thing is that Authors are Real-World people. All other terms- Narrator, Writer, Avatar- describe In-World characters. Edited September 7, 2019 by xinoehp512
AonEne he/him Posted September 7, 2019 Author Posted September 7, 2019 Quote But you just said they aren't I can debate that, actually. IC Ene doesn't directly control OOC Ene, but the influence is there. I still disagree with that terminology; but if it works for you...
xinoehp512 he/him Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 Quote "Chronologically linked" does not mean contemporary. It means past/future versions of one person. 3 minutes ago, AonEne said: I can debate that, actually. IC Ene doesn't directly control OOC Ene, but the influence is there. AonEne he/him Posted September 7, 2019 Author Posted September 7, 2019 Quote I know what it means, and I didn't say they were contemporary. Define "can" Have the ability to, yes - will, never. For the reasons we've been talking about.

You have ultimate power over Ene the Character.

But you could, because you are her author. Capitalized or not. 14 hours ago, AonEne said: For the reasons we've been talking about. It's true that, in a sense, you and Ene the character are the same person, just like how two versions of someone in alternate realities are in a sense the same person. However, the two of you have different experiences, different memories, and even potentially different personalities. In that sense, you are different people. The two perspectives are not mutually exclusive.
Lunamor she/her Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 Quote I think y’all should just agree to disagree 1
xinoehp512 he/him Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 Quote But I'm sure that we can agree.

xinoehp512 he/him Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 Quote The whole point of the argument was whether Writers and Authors are the same thing, which I feel is an important distinction if anything is supposed to make sense.
AonEne he/him Posted September 7, 2019 Author Posted September 7, 2019 Quote Sorry that this isn’t in-depth because I’m on mobile, but the quotes didn’t help. Yes, I possess the physical ability to type her into being a frog, and I could also do that for Aqua. But of course I don’t because of the rules we have set up.

For a long time, now. “Huh,” I said, and Meta-character looked at me. “You seem to be thinking of something,” he said. “Well,” I continued. “I control you. So that means, anything I say can happen to you, right? Isn’t that... too much power for one person to have? With great power comes great corruption. I could do whatever I want as a Writer. I could become a tyrant!” “I doubt it,” Meta-character said and I held up my book in response, edited Meta-character’s character sheet. “Hey, hey what are you doing?!” Meta-character called as suddenly they had blonde hair, and were 4 feet tall. “See? I control you.” I did another edit and Meta-character had four arms. “Hey, stop! Give me that!” Meta-character reached for my sketchbook but I edited the character sheet again and they had no arms. I looked at them, then at the sheet. Then at the aquamarine voice. “This is too much power,” I said. “No one should have this much power. No one.”
old man moomba he/him Posted September 8, 2019 Posted September 8, 2019 "Well it's a bit too late to stop it now." Dapper said with a grin, "The power... it's not... evil, nor is it good. It simply is, and we decide how to use it. Now, I'm sure everyone is different, but when I became real, you might say, I knew the power innately, how to use it to manipulate the world. I was nerver corrupted by it because I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it. My Intent, you might say."

AonEne he/him Posted September 8, 2019 Author Posted September 8, 2019 Quote I think you’re looking at this in a specifically TLT way, while I’m looking at it in a every-RP way. Regardless, we clearly have differing opinions, and that’s fine. It could be different for some people than for others. This is already a pretty subjective topic. Anyway, this was meant to be a murder mystery, and while I love all the magic talk going on, that’s not what I’m here for. So I’m dropping the subject here.

Meta-character was flailing around on the floor, and with a hesitant eraser I erased his character sheet, and slowly he faded away from existence, just a figment of my imagination. I thought of something, then looked to everyone at the wedding hall. “What if Apollyon was a character?” I proposed. “They are indistinguishable from regular people like us, and his writer might have wanted to kill him.”

Though...I will admit not much scarier than him dying in the first place.”
