Well, I’m impressed.

Emere

Recommended Posts

The sheer size of this place is both amazing, and slightly intimidating, but I will do my best to put aside my normal lurking habits and introduce myself without hiding in a corner.

Emere: A mythical creature who once existed as a human child but suffered a tragic accident on a particularly special or holy day. They are eternally stuck between heaven and earth but can travel between the two. Most people just call me Em… :)

Of Sanderson’s books I’ve only read the Mistborn trilogy. The only reason I haven’t zoomed through the rest of his books is because I can’t find them. I tend to boycott major book stores because money doesn’t grow on trees in my back yard. I’ve been working on that but my American dollar-oak tree hybrid doesn’t seem to be working particularly well as of late.

>.> <.< I have a secret. It’ll be in my signature (we do have signatures here right?) soon. So if your one of those really curious people just check back. It’ll be up as soon as its finished.

Thanks for taking time to read this!

Welcome, person who also bears the nickname of Em!

Yes, its huge, but everyone is helpful (especially Chaos who is probably lurking even as I speak), and much of it is now specialized.

I hang around the RP and general discussion boards.

Welcome, Em! I'm glad you like our site! We try really hard to make this a fun and welcoming place for everybody, so I'm glad you put aside the lurking for now. I hope you'll make yourself at home here and make some new friends while you're at it. :D Feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions or concerns!

Also, have a cookie:

I certainly hope it isn't too intimidating. Don't be freaked out by the insane amount of members that have registered since the contest has started--we're a much more cozy community than that giant list of members would suggest :)

(We do indeed have signatures here, by the way)

Mistborn is my favorite of Brandon's works, but you'll want to skip out on General Theories until at least you read Way of Kings, though there are some discussions on Elantris and Warbreaker as it is. If you boycott bookstores, why don't you read Warbreaker for free? Brandon posted it to his website, and if you aren't dramatically opposed to e-reading, I highly recommend it doing it that way. Much better than going through a Brandon drought, eh?

I'm Eric, the forum/site administrator as well as the theory dude. I'm on here a lot.

Lurk? Ha! I never do that! :P Wait...

I'm very interested to see your secret, Emere. There's always another secret. (You knew that line was coming)

I will reply to all of these in the same reply because I'm just awesome like that!

Em:

Lots of people call me Ems as well so I suppose since you were here first... ^.^

KChan:

COOKIE!! *grabs cookie and starts munching on it in a corner* My. Cookie. No stealing!

After she's done eating the cookie --> It seems very welcoming already and I'm happy I have finally convinced myself to join!

Chaos:

There's a contest? o_O well that explains why the number of people who have logged on in the past 24 hours is so massive.

Free e-book... *weighs dislike of reading on computers and her need to read Warbreaker*

I lurk all the time but usually if I've stalked a site for more than a month I just join and I agree, that line was coming!

Oh yeah! I've replied to all of them in 1 post. *does happy dance*

Good for you! :D And yes, there's definitely a contest going on. You should check it out on our home page. You could win a free signed ARC of Alloy of Law! Not to mention loads of other goodies.

Also, I'm glad you like the cookie. It is, indeed, rather welcoming. Or at least, I intended it to be. ;)

Its okay! laugh.gif You can use the nickname. Its mostly on instant chats and that sort of thing with character count limits (or a pressing need to talk fast, "Em! Creeper! RUN!"), that I get called Em.

basically the best response to anything ever right here.

Also, yeah, don't be too intimidated by the community here, we have a small sized group of regulars around here, we've just blown up over the past couple of days.

Also, welcome to 17th shard! I'm Eerongal, but many people call me either Eero or Ee, which ever you prefer.

Wow, look at that. I'm signed up for a contest and I didn't even know it. Yes! That means less effort on my part! The contest looks amazing. I want Mistborn jewelry. I got some for my best friend's birthday but now I wand some so bad!

Em it is then, for both of us! xD

That video is absolutely adorable. I know the show but have never actually watched it. Ohhh, Eero sounds familiar for some reason. Hmmmm, this is going to bug me now...

Well, Eero is actually a real name, it's like Scandinavian or something. As far as the handle Eerongal, in so far as I'm aware, that's fully unique to myself, and in fact googling it only turns up places where i have made accounts and such. The only famous Eero that *I* know of is the one who designed the gateway arch in st. louis, missouri.

That explains why it sounds familiar. I've read about the St. Louis arch since I lived in Missouri growing up and the name faintly rand a bell. I didn't know it was Scandinavian though. Googling accounts makes me feel the need to go Google my name... xD

I lived in Columbia, where the University of Missouri is, until I was eight. We went to St. Louis a lot since it's not too far away and we had family there. To this day I'm still a big Mizzou fan.

Yeah, i've been to columbia a number of times (also kansas city on several occasions). I actually live in the STL area until about 4 months ago, but i moved up to Iowa earlier this year.

"Ero" is also a Japanese word roughly equating to 'pervert/perverted', I think. Probably wrong though. It tends to happen..

*cough*

Hi Em! Funny story, I have a younger sister that we generally call Em. That's irrelevant. And irrelephant, since it has nothing to do with elephants either!

I'm Kuri. I'm only slightly insane, I promise. Ruin hasn't started whispering to me yet, so I'm pretty sure there's still hope....

Ah, who am I kidding, sanity is for chumps. Enjoy your stay here! :D

Rainbow:

Wait Japanese porn is the letter "h"? That really shouldn't be as funny as I think it is.

Link:

I've also heard Eros before in some type of lit or history class. Possibly Renaissance. Which would also explain why Eero looked familiar. If I remember correctly Eros was Cupid. Right?

Kuri:

You're only slightly insane. Wow, maybe I should leave, I obviously won't fit in here. xD

Eero:

Columbia is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen (what I still remember of it.) Is Iowa's climate like Missouri's? I could Google this of course but that would require effort.

Ahem. The Japanese word "Ero" is an abbreviation of the word "Erosu." Eros was the son of Aphrodite. That's where we get the word Erotic, and that's basically what the Japanese "Ero" means. The Japanese love to abbreviate their loan-words.

I knew I wasn't completely off base there! XD Thanks for the assist :)

Ems, I understate. Sometimes :P

Yeah, so far it's been pretty much identical to where i'm from. So much so, in fact, that when i compare the current weather with friends from back home that its usually with 5-10 degrees of each other, though precipitation is sort of hit-or-miss.
