Nerin peered at the man, vaguely recognizing him from earlier in the night.

What in the...

"You were a customer," Nerin said, relief flooding her body, "earlier in the evening. What are you still doing here?"

"Dunno. Fell asleep." He stopped to catch his breath. "And you are?" He hoped they wouldn't try to kill him like the ones at the last parlor had.

"I'm Nerin," she said, still guarded, "one of the Soothers that works here. There are... some of my associates."

She gestured to the others, letting them make their own introductions if they wished. Almost without thinking, Nerin burned brass, Soothing some of the agitation in the room. The last thing she wanted was more violence tonight.

"The streets are rough tonight," she continued. "You can stay here till morning with the rest of us."

The words hurt. Somehow. Somehow they were to be expected. Nerin had offered a cot to Brillin, and now to the stranger. But not to herself. Attayl hid it behind a polite smile.

"I'm Attayl."

She told the new one, but stayed where she was. For now. When they headed to bed she would leave, try to find a place to pass the night. Then, maybe she could steal some breakfast. Then - she had no idea. Her fingers tightened around her cup, but otherwise she showed nothing but calm.

Atmose stepped back, taking a piece of fine white chalk out of his robes in his hand. Who were all these people showing up, and why are they showing up just now? If worst came to worst, he might be able to throw up a quick line of forbiddance, but he wasn't good with straight lines...

Rilen shot awake, he was breathing heavy and sweating. The dream was still clear in his mind, he saw Aben and a few others he thought he recognized from the parlor surrounded by danger and a group of people who reeked of death. Rilen stood up from the bench he had been sleeping on, he had to find Aben, he couldn't lose another brother. He sprinted back to the parlor, praying that Aben was there. When he reached the parlor he wanted to break down the door and search the place for Aben, but he knew wasn't fully in control so he took a few deep breaths, controlling the wolf inside. When he felt marginally in control he knocked on the door.

@whoever wants to open the door.

Garth stood silently, then stepped forward. "Garth." He offered his hand to Aben.

Aben drew his sword, smoothly shifting his footing as he fell into stance. "How'd you get in here?"

Attayl stepped over to him and drew her knife. so many strangers and someone else just knocked on the door. It was getting really crowded here. She observed them misstrustingly. Who knew who they were working for.
"I think he was a customer earlier."
She whispered to Aben.

Nerin froze at the thundering knock on the door.

At this hour? No one with good news or good intentions knocked on a door this late and this loudly. She took out her other hairpin dagger and got ready to hit whoever was outside with a powerful Soothing. Before she could change her mind, she crossed to the door, careful to keep out of sight from the windows.

"Who is it?" she called through the wood, praying that they didn't have a rifle. "What do you want?"

"Rilen Caranda," he said through the door, "I'm looking for Aben, is he still here?"

"I remember him. He was here earlier."
Attayl told Nerin calmly, but stayed where she was. She ignited her bronze and listened carefully. If someone used their powers, she would hopefully know of it.

Nerin chewed on the inside of her cheek briefly, then nodded and turned back to the door.

"I'm unlocking the bolt," she called. "Don't do anything stupid."

She slowly slid the deadbolt out of its groove, already beginning her Soothing before she even fully opened the door. Fear, panic, aggression, the desire to fight, rage - let's put those away for now. Nerin peeked through the narrow slit in the door, then realized she, too, recognized the man.

Sighing, she pulled it open further. "Well come on in, then," she said, shooing the young man inside. "It's a rusting party in here tonight."

Rilen walked in and felt instantly relieved that Aben was ok, everyone in the room smelled anxious and suspicious, but he felt oddly calm. "Thanks," he said to the woman who'd opened the door as he walked over to where Aben was. He stopped a few feet from him and put his hand on one of his swords, "what is going on?" He asked, watching the man across from Aben.

That's a good rusting question. Nerin took in Rilen's flushed cheeks and windswept hair, the way he was breathing.

"We could ask the same of you - it looks like to tore across half the city to get here."

He glanced back at the woman, "well you're not exactly wrong. I had a dream, you would probably call it a vision, and you guys were surrounded by danger coming from a group of people who smelled like death. So I ran over here to make sure Aben was ok. Your turn, whats going on here?"

A group of people that smelled like death? he wondered. How do you smell death? The smart thing to do was to have probably stayed in Silverlight, but it was to late to make that decision now. "You don't just run 'over here' because of a dream. Why are you here, really?"

Brillin stayed in his seat, watching as things unfolded. More people coming, suspicions arising. But just as a gang war was starting, why wouldn’t people seek shelter where they could find it? And this man, he too claimed to smell people’s emotions, as well as have a vision. Brillin sighed, some sort of group of deceivers, maybe? Perhaps scammers, but why would a scammer make such bold claims about a “dream”?

Brillin shook his head. He was just waiting for them to speak about the “hidden 17th metal” that he’d have to pay the cheap price of $19.99 to find out about.

They have their own symbol. It's kind of like the cent sign, only with diagonal lines. Just say something along the pattern of one-Boxing-fifty for 1.50 boxings. It's how they do it in Era 2, from what we've seen.
