“I guess I will be on Shana’s team, since she is my girlfriend.”

Ben made sure the emphasize the girlfriend part. He felt extremely uncomfortable and had no idea how to causally mention something like that. He hoped he hadn’t messed anything up.

Good job you mentioned it straight on, or Rob would still be confused. :-P

Rob looked at Ben and Shana for a second. And then it all clicked together once again. He’d seen this on TV.

“So, then, who is this random man you’ve brought into our backyard?”

Doing it like the way we have so far seems good.

A rotation seems like it would work best with so many people, although we would probably have to have anyone who doesn’t have anything they want to write say so so that things don’t get clogged.

I'll head to bed soon, so just decide what you prefer and if we go on like we do now, no need to wait for me.

“This is James, a Bondsmith. He recently moved here to learn more about his surges. James, Rob. Rob, James.”

“Sounds good. I can just use my Shardblade in a dulled form.”

He tried summoning Glint, but all he got in reply was a weak “Busy”.

”Erm, Glint doesn’t want to come, so looks like I need a training weapon. Uh, Shana, what would you suggest I use?”

“I can use my hands,” Rob said, looking to Flid. “What about you?”

He waved to James. And then he walked over to him and patted him on the shoulder, whispering. “It’s okay, I won’t judge if you’re Ben’s boyfriend.” Asking Shana to defend for them had been smart, but Rob had obviously thought it all through.

"A blade. I'll get you one."

She smiled at Flid.

"And I 'll fetch a training weapon for you as well. You won't hurt someone if you're a bit careful."

Shana walked back into the training room and fetch her training weapon, and then a Blade for Ben which resembled the one Glint would have formed a bit, and a small sword for Flid. She took two bags full of spheres and then returned to the others.

"Here you are."

She handed Ben and Flid the weapons and the leaned over to Rob.

"No drowning, please?"

She begged him quietly.

"Thanks!"

Ben accepted the blade and smiled. It looked very similar to one Glint would have formed. Shana was so thoughtful.

"Wait, drowning?"

Flid said.

"Don't worry- I can heal practically anything, so we should be safe."

Ben attempted to smile at him reassuringly.

Flid accepted the sword from Shana, still worried. "So, Rob drowned someone once?"

"No. Rob is great."

She told him defensively.

"Just leave it."

Ben was curious about what had happened that involved drowning and Rob. He decided to not ask Shana about it, though, as she clearly wasn't comfortable talking about it.

“No drowning,” he said in agreement to Shana. He turned to Flid. “One of our surges is to turn stone to some sort of liquid. Try not to direct too much of it to that girl,” he pointed at Shana.

And she’d said he was great. Which was the first compliment he’d gotten in, what, 3 months? Compliments were nice.

Flid turned to Rob. "So, are we able to do the opposite as well? Like, throw some water and make it into a wall? which Surge is that?"

Shana closed her hand around her staff, loosened her muscles a bit. Her training weapon had no blades, but she had added some weights to the ends to imitate the way her weapon felt in her hand.

She grimaced when Rob spoke of her as that girl, but didn't say anything. as long as she didn't end in a pool of water again everything was fine.

"I'm ready when you are."

Ben stood next to Shana and attempted to stand how she had told him to. He sucked in a tiny bit of stormlight, just enough to allow him to move faster and gain a bit of strength. He wasn't going to be using his surges. He was careful to hold his weapon in the correct grip.

“Sort of, but really no. It’s Cohesion.” As an example Rob picked up a pebble and melted it, turning it into a liquid, clay-like substance. “It’s not really water, we just remove most inner cohesion within the rock and it becomes loose and liquidy.” He shaped the clay-rock into a little circle and solidified it again, dropping it to the ground.

“Though, if you had a large pool of water, you could harden it to stone, but it would still be water. And you can’t just do it with a few drops.”

Shana smiled at Ben, looked over the way he stood, held his weapon. She reached out and brushed over his arm.

When she saw Rob form a stone into a circle she picked it up.

"Can I keep it?"

Flid picked up a rock the size of a fist and attempted to mold it, and it ended up making what looked like a very pointy stone stick and frowned.

"So you can mold the rock into whatever you want. That's pretty cool."

“Yeah, like a knife, or a sword.” Rob breathed in some more Stormlight. “And then there’s Tension.”

Rob never understood the appeal of keeping things. Some people collected shells. Others coins. And now she wanted a rock he had moulded. “Sure,” Rob said, scratching his head. “Though I can make a better one, if you wanted to give that to Ben.”
