Has anyone asked Brandon if Nale could feel emotions when Dalinar United the realms?

We saw Taln become more sane when the realms were united so did the other shards lose their issues temporarily as well?

If Dalinar ascends more will the heralds become better and better?

Afaik, that hasn't been asked. Taln's madness is probably very different from Nale and the others' madnesses, though. Theirs probably came about from breaking their oaths to the Shard that is all about Oaths, and Taln's came about from being tortured for four and a half millennia.

I'm not aware of any WoBs. Taln gets better and seems to sense Dalinar even though he doesn't know who he is while Ash does not seem to sense Dalinar. Maybe only his connection to Honor is fully intact because he didn't abandon his duty like the others. He also might still have his blade (just dismissed) and that might be giving him the direct connection.

Ash didn't seem different, but she doesn't have her blade. Nale has his blade, maybe he could feel something, but maybe breaking his oath matters.

We know that Nale retrieved his blade we have no such knowledge as far as Ash is concerned.

Makes sense.

If she retrieved her blade it would have had to be recent, as in since Szeth left Shin.  Mr T told him that one of the Honorblades had vanished from Shin, as a way to try explain away Kaladin to him without him realizing that the Radiant's had returned.  Szeth's reaction was "One of the other seven?"  At the time he left at least, Shin had eight; they sent one with him, had long since lost (if they ever had) Nale's, and never had Taln's.

It's also always possible that the Shin had previously lost more than the one they sent with Szeth and kept it secret, but we just dont know enough about them to really make any supported theories.

I really doubt she went and got it in the last few months since she's just been destroying art like usual even in OB until Mraize tells her where Taln is.

In tWoK I-7 she indicates she doesn't want a blade either:

Quote

"Perhaps I should get myself a Shardblade," she said absently, putting the tool up on her shoulder. "But that might make this too easy."

"I wouldn't mind if it were too easy, mistress." Baxil noted.

She sniffed

In OB she slashes Mraize's painting with a plain old knife, doesn't seem like she ever upgraded.

No it came from all of them being tortured, however they all express it in different ways.

The other 9 haven't been tortured in 4.5k years. They were fairly normal in the prelude. It's been since then that they went wacko.

Yeah, several of them have discussed the fact that they have been getting worse over time, not better or staying the same as you'd expect if it was just trauma.

I don't know what that word of Brandon's was but i'm pretty sure he said they all broke at least once,Nale also said his ability to their ability to feel was stolen from them by the voidbringers.

I would not call a king staggering around drunk norma as we see Jez in the prequall.  We also know that Nale was still tracking down and killing KR and that I am fairly sure that Tukar was already at war with Emul thanks to Ishar.  The way I see it the Heralds are all insane they have just started acting more erratically because they know the consequences of their actions are catching up to them

It seems far more likely they've just been getting progressively worse over time. That's what (presumably) Kalak says to Nale in the WoR prologue.

Quote

“I’m worried about Ash.”
“You’re worried about everything.”
Jasnah hesitated in the hallway.
“She’s getting worse,” the voice continued. “We weren’t supposed to get worse. Am I getting worse? I think I feel worse.”
“Shut up.”

I said prelude, not prologue.

That makes more sense but I am not sure that their oaths are technically broken yet as both of them still have their honorblades.

They walked away from their Oaths, like the Radiants did. The Oathpact itself wasn't technically completely broken, but their individual Oath, the spirit of it, so to speak, certainly was.

The way they broke their oaths might make a difference.  Perhaps because of it they retained sanity for a few weeks.
