"So, what we has a senate just decided, is that Hemalurgy is legal, as long as you have the victims complete consent, and they don't die," Doomhorn said, "Glad we cleared that up."

Doomhorn nodded, "Now, to go on the subject of The Precursors, how about we have another leader join them? Replace one, maybe the Disco Lizard, he seems out of place, with say, a Keeper. Government oversight, plus a chosen leader. Also, if one leader is deemed incapable of doing is job, he can be replaced and removed,"

This brought Keleth up short.  He hadn't seen that.  Well, he would work on drafting hemalurgy consent forms, as the DA would probably take serious liberties without them.

Keleth raised his voice on the matter of the Precursors.  "The thought is good, however, they need to be untouchable.  If corruption exists, we shall never rise to a higher state.  Perhaps men with hemalurgically altered emotions that make them impossible to be bribed, tricked, or corrupted in any way."

On an out of character perspective, I don't think that is a good idea. Not only does someone being hemalurgic put a certain amount of distrust with 5/11ths of the population, making the police force incorruptible, closes some interesting plotlines. Also, if all characters who join must use hemalurgy, than membership will drop severely. And, having characters with no emotions lead a police force makes rping difficult, and not interesting to the one doing it. In my opinion.

"Maybe, but hemalurgy opens them up to soother and rioter control. That is a problem," Doomhorn said.

I agree with Darth. Why do all of you like hemalurgy? We can't make overpowered characters anyway, so we can't mix investitures. Thus, it is perfectly fine to make a character with a natural ability. Besides, hemalurgy is weaker than normal investiture.

I think you misunderstand one crucial aspect of hemalurgy, and that is that it’s not only for powers. It’s for anything that you can think of. It can make you chirp like a cricket.

The Dark Alley, you know, the inspiration and original Guild that lead to the creation of the Alleyverse, was founded by predominantly Hemalurgic Specialists. Essentially, Hemalurgy is the primary  reason that this subforum exists in the first place.

"Technically we decided that it's legal as long as you don't break any other laws. Which is not necessarily the same as having consent and being nonlethal."

A hooded figure from the DA grumbled.

What are you talking about?

Also, do the DA have a senate seat, or are they an independent government?

"Yes, but unless you have consent, it is assault, and if they die, it is murder," Doomhorn said.

Another hooded figure cleared their throat, “By living in ALLEY city, all citizens are agreeing to submit to spontaneous Science.”

"Not necessarily." The DA figure said, a small flash of white teeth hinting at his secretive grin as he began to confer with the DA lawyers.

Neither, the DA is a group of scientists and their experiments who don't particularly feel like being beholden to any government. Even Voidus doesn't technically lead the DA, he's just the first lurker and the one who created it.

In D&D terms the DA is Chaotic Neutral taken to the extreme.

“How much state power is there? Such as, could the Citadel ban hemalurgy, even though it is legal on the republic level?” Doomhorn asked.

"They could try." Chuckled another hooded figure from among the DA.

Seriously, could we get to the Precursor vote?

"What do you think hammering out the specifics are?" Doomhorn said, "And besides, could we please get ot the Precursors?"

Posted

"The problem with specifics is that the legalization of hemalurgy is currently losing the official vote," Keleth said, a satisfied grin on his face, "7 to 8"

He then likely realized the multiple illegitimate votes that don't count because they weren't from representatives.

"I don't think that level of rudeness was required, lady keeper," Doomhorn said, "But you are right, sadly. Hemalurgy won, as many illegitimate people decided to cast ballets. How those ballets got to those ballets is not my concern, it would be the Precursors, if they get confirmed. My proposal is that we keep the current leadership of Thel and Fang, and the replace the disco lizard with a keeper, or some other guild member. We get someone monitoring what goes on, and the Precursors get their jobs,"
