EddieB he/him
WOW!!!! I'm fairly new, and not entirely sure of spoilers, where to and where NOT TO mention them in topic, so all I will say is WOW!!! There was 1 part I wasnt a big fan of, NOT.....AT.....ALL!!!!! I mean, I get why it happened, I get WHY it had to happen, the whole "Heroes Journey" and all, but you can see it coming a mile away. I find it hard to believe, after everything he had learned, what he knew could potentially happen, that he would continue down that path nonetheless. Sure, it leads up to an AMAZING redemption/growth scene, but still, lol. Gonna start Oath Bringer tomorrow, and then it seems we have quite the wait for book 4, oh well, cant be any worse then waiting for George R.R. Martin to come out with Winds of Winter!! I mean, it's only been , what, 4,5 years now? Maybe longer? I have never had to EAGERLY wait for a BS novel. I read Elantris and wasnt aware he was making part 2 so, it was already out by the time I learned it had been written. Mistborn, books 1-3, as well as the 2nd era had been released before I started that series, and Bands of Mourning came out a couple months after i had finished Shadows of Self. Waiting for Bands of Mourning wasnt bad at all, having just read 1-3 of the 1st Era, and 1-2 of the 2nd era, I was experiencing a bit of "Scadrial" overload as it was, lol. That being said, book 4 in the Stormlight series has no hard date yet, but I've read that it has a tentative release date for the fall of 2020. Again, not having had to wait for any of his books in the past, how accurate are his dates? How have they been in past releases? I'm sure he cant deliever ALL OF THE TIME, things come up, a chapter or so needs rewriting, he has a family/private emergency that comes up that delays progress, it happens, but, again, with all that being said, how accurate are his dates? Does he usually deliever close to the given date? If he says fall 2020, will it be winter 2020 at the latest, or, in the past, had he said winter, but ultimately postponed release untill say, idk, late spring early summer of the same year, 4-6 months overdo?!?!

Depends on the book. Wax and Wayne 4 (The Lost Metal) was first supposed to release this year, now it's scheduled for 2020/2021. His dates are generally pretty good for Stormlight, though, and he's making good progress on the outline for it (and 5 as a bonus, which he's outline-revising alongside it). EddieB he/him
That's good to hear, AWESOME in fact!! Its actually a relief, lol, because if Oath Bringer is even HALF AS GOOD as WoR is, I'm gonna FLY thru it, same as I did with WoK and WoR, which probably took me 1-2 weeks each, lol. I mean, OH WAIT, I need to read the other book 1st, the one that isnt really a part of the Stormlight series, but is a part of the overall, LARGER, story. Maybe Edgedancer I think called? CrazyRioter she/her
Edgedancer is a novella that is part of the Stormlight series, the one you're thinking about is Warbreaker, and yeah you should read it before Oathbringer, ideally. It explains some things about Szeth's new talking sword, and there's a few other characters from there in WoR and OB.
EddieB he/him
Oh yeah, no, I know it's a novella. I'm just trying to remember, someone here told me to read it before Oath Bringer I think, but after WoR, kinda like it's part 2.5. I'm just trying to remember if I have this right, that I'm suppose to read it after WoR and before OB, or after OB, but before book 4 I know of Warbreaker, that's the other series in Cosmere. A series beside MistBorn and Elantris Edited January 26, 2019 by EddieB More info

equinox
@CrazyRioter is right. If you have the time and the opportunity, reading Warbreaker before Oathbringer might also be a good idea. Warbreaker is not a series, but as of now a standalone book - though there might be a sequel sometime. If you don't know it by now: You can follow Brandon Sanderson's process on his current projects on his website brandonsanderson.com (on my phone I never see the drop-down button; have to click on Spensa's (the girl's in the top picture) forehead). Toaster Retribution he/him
Warbreaker and Edgedancer are recommended to read before OB. You can read OB without them as well though, but there might be easter eggs that you are missing, and things regarding a specific character in OB might seem wierd without having read Edgedancer. All in all, both are good to read, but not obligatory. Also, you can freely spoil all Stormlight books in the Stormlight section (avoid spoilers in thread titles though). So watch out, as this section (and the Cosmere and Cosmere Q&A books) will contain spoilers for Oathbringer and Edgedancer, without warning or spoiler tags.
