The door swings open, standing inside is a man who appears to be in his mid 30s. He has short blonde hair and his green eyes are crinkled at the edges from his beaming smile, “You must be Alex! It’s a pleasure to meet you! Come in, come in!”

"Oh, uh, yes sir. Good to meet you too" Alex walks in

Zoe ducked when the chimera attacked them directly, glad that Jarias took over. Gone was the nervous boy, leaving a calm fighter in his place. She had trouble to phrase her relief at the fact that he knew what he did, that he had spent his time at the camp with something else than she had. The monster flinched back in pain when his blade left a deep gash in its tail and she gripped her bar tightly. Hesitantly she watched the fight, tried to find an opening, a good way for her to help, to use her improvised weapon.

The chimera seemed to ignore her completely, instead it focused on Jarias. There wasn't a lot of room outside, good for them maybe as it hindered the beasts movements, although she couldn't suppress the feeling that she was trapped, that she had no way to escape. The small, mean eyes of the thing followed Jarias for a heartbeat before it struck again, fangs gleaming when it jumped forward to throw him to ground and bite his head off.

@eltruT
Instead of dodging to the side or to the back, he instead dodges towards  the beast, sliding under it, the thing landing where he was moments before. In an heartbeat, Jarias is back up on his feet in a heartbeat and, now positioned behind the thing, stabs it again.

Hey Po, I was wondering if you could PM the details on the rogue agent case and the plans...

Yep, I still need to finish up some things on that, but I'm working on it! ;)

CLEAR

Alex looks around the house he's just walked into. He couldn't see much of it but it didn't look much like he'd expected a wizard's house to look like. Except for the moving photos, he supposed.

Welp... guess I save it myself.

An owl carrying a package lands in front of Alex, squaking profusely and glaring at Alex expectantly.

The owl circles its head around, which (godmod incoming!) you're pretty sure is the owl equivalent of rolling its eyes. It pushes its package towards Alex; a package labeled with his name.

Alex, excited, opens the envelope first

It's a howler--a quiet howler--from Jeana the Wandmaker.

Hey, honey, how ya doing? I honestly hope your day's been goin' bad because this is going to make it!

Turns out that the Silver Lime Wood was basically begging to be paired with those Khyrstos hairs you brought me. It couldn't get enough of the stuff, mm-mm! Ah, but if you ever get into the wand-making business, hon, then you remember that you aren't supposed to give a wand two cores, you understand? It might explode, or... or something! I've never seen it happen, 'cuz I ain't stupid enough.

But enough ranting. In that box right there, if you haven't opened it yet like a true gentleman who reads the letter first, is your wand. You hear that, honey? Your wand! Try not to lose it. It's Silver Lime, Khystos Hair core, just over eleven and a half inches long, and that thing is never gonna leave you, ya hear me honey? NEVER. It is loyal as a wand can be. Just perfect for a handsome young gentleman like yourself. Just be nice to it, honey, mmkay? I get the feeling that it won't be too happy if you don't give it a proper cleaning every once in awhile, and wands can do some nasty things if they feel like you've been mistreatin' them!

Anyways, honey, I hope it serves you well. Make sure to write to old Jeana every once in awhile, mmkay hon? I get lonely when handsome young fellers like yourself pretend like I don't exist.

Hugs and kisses!

Jeana just broke the fourth wall and made my day magically better :D

Alex watched the letter burn up and excitedly started opening up the box with his wand. He pulled out the silver wand and immediately felt a tingle run through his fingers, like Fate was telling him this was where his destiny changed.

"Hello, friend," Alex said to the wand. Jeana talked about them like they were alive, and holding one now, Alex could believe it. "You ready to change the world?"

There wasn't any response, but he wasn't too put off by that. Even be magical standards that may have been a bit much. He looked at the owl. "Will you take her a return letter?"

The owl looks back at Alex as if to say, um, why do you think I exist, idiot?

"I don't think this owl likes me."

Neither the owl nor the wand respond to that, so Alex starts looking around for some paper, before remembering he has a wand now. Maybe he should try some spells.

Alex picked up his wand. "All right friend, we're going to try a little spell I haven't tried in a while, ready? Chersha paper!"

...

"Huh, well usually that at least makes something light up so I can see where it-"

A burst of sparks burst out of the end of the wand towards a drawer in the kitchen and make little scorch marks all over the wood.

"Whoah! Ok, easy there."

Alex opens the slightly smoking drawer to find some loose parchment, quills, and ink.

"I guess... that works."

He figures out how the heck to use a quill and starts writing a letter to Jeana.

"I think," he muses, "that spell works differently with a wand because of the power or something. My incantation had to be powerful enough for me to use magic without the wand, but with a wand I don't need the same level of power. But-" he stops, and touches the end of the quill to his chin. "What makes one incantation more powerful than another? Is it just the willpower behind it, maybe? The focus?" he looks at the wand on the countertop. "We're going to need to do some experiments."

He attaches the finished letter to the owl's leg and steps back. "So uh, that's going to Jeana. You know where she is, I assume?"

The owl spins its head around again, flaps in front of Alex's face for a second just to remind him who was boss, then flew out the window.

Dear Jeana,

Sorry I can't make my letter talk and catch fire, if that's normal for wizards. I can't even find a normal pen in this house, imagine!

Thanks so much for the wand. I'll make sure to treat it like the friend it's going to be to me. Is there a manual or something for wand care? Anyway, it's already proven just how good a companion it will be, as long as I don't accidentally set the house on fire. I'm going to make sure I learn how to put it out before I do it on purpose.

Hope to see you soon!

Love, Alex

"I'm sure we could convince somebody to let us in there... but then again, trying to seek out an acromantula is kind of suicide, so maybe not?"

Alex picked up his wand and began some experiments, trying to figure out exactly how this magic works, keeping track of the data on the parchment.

"But if we went in there without permission and somehow got caught, I'm sure we'd be able to have a worthy explanation..." Bethany tried not to think about how many rules that would be breaking.

"Yes. That would work. 'Sorry, Ms. McGonagal, we were just trying to find some acromantula fangs so we could experiment with wandlore a little. I assure you that all of it was a hundred percent educatonal. Now could you please call Madam Pomfrey before the acromantula poison reaches my heart and kills me? Thanks.'"
