A well dressed man jumped to his feet, back ramrod straight and wearing a conflicted expression. Tears began to well up as he shook his head from side to side, finally finding his resolve.

"I object!" He yelled, running to the front of the audience.

He looked up at the dais the couple were standing on, tears in his eyes.

"I'm sorry, I was never brave enough to say anything before now. But seeing this, it's just.. I would never forgive myself if I didn't say something now."

The man steeled himself, hands balling into fists at his sides as he looked up, the tears began to slow as a newfound confidence took his face, but the redness still remained where they had been flowing before, throwing the bright green of his eyes into sharp contrast.

"Ever since the first moment I saw you, I wanted to be together. Forever. You're all I ever think about, dawn til dusk. I need to be with you, every moment we're apart feels like I'm drowning, like my life is just a desperate struggle until I can see you again and get a breath of air."

The man stopped, choking a little as he became emotional once more. Then dropped to one knee.

"Please." He said, holding out a hand with a small velvet box. "Will you marry me?"

He held his arms aloft, looking into the eyes of his one true love.

"Priest?"

Max listened to the priest continue on, and for a second he was unsure what to say. Did he say “I do” again? Hearing the priest continue he looked to the side, to Althea, and his heart melted at seeing her so happy.

As the priest came to a stop on his question, Max gently squeezed Althea’s hand. “I do,” he said.

A man near the back of the audience sobbed gently, he seemed to almost be about to stand and say something. But, with a sigh, he instead stayed where he was and simply looked on mournfully.

The priest continued, asked his second question and she felt Max hand tighten around hers while he replied again. Someone was sobbing quietly behind her in the audience, but she ignored it, looked at the only person that mattered right now. Max. Gently returning the squeeze, she nodded.

"I do."

I'd suggest answering that question, otherwise KanMien might give you some kind of rare, decorated bone.

"May these rings be blessed as a symbol of your union. As often as
either of you look upon these rings, may you not only be reminded of
this moment, but also of the vows you have made and the strength of
your commitment to each other." He said as he presented a diamond and gold inlay to Althea and a simple tungsten band to Max

As he did so he also subtlety slipped in a note into Max's pocket, as he presented Maxs ring to him, without anyone noticing a thing as their attention was on his cowled face.

He looked to Max and spoke. "Max, please repeat after me ...

I, Max, promise to love and support you Althea and live each day
with kindness, understanding, truth, humor, and passion. With this
ring I thee wed."

Max nodded, and excitedly held the ring in his hands. He turned towards Althea, and tried his best to repeat what the priest had said.

“I, Max,” he said slowly. “promise with all my heart to love and support you, Althea, and to live each day with kindness, understanding, truth, humour and passion.”

He didn’t stop eye-contact as said the next part.

“With this ring I thee wed.”

Althea repeated her voice shaking slightly.

The priest smiled. "Go now in peace and live in love, sharing the most precious gifts you have-
the gifts of your lives united. And may your days be long on this earth.
I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."

Max nodded.

Shifting, he turned to Althea. He stepped close to her, his love.

They'd said the oaths. They'd made their love for each other offical, and all of the city knew. They'd promised themselves to each other, that they wouldn't leave each other, wouldn't abandon the other, that they would support each other. They were married. And nothing could've possibly make Max happier. Even with the news of his Master's death, this was the best day of his life.

Admiring her, her beautiful eyes, Max put his free hand on her waist and leaned in for the kiss.

Althea turned to Max, her love, her husband. They'd married. The thought was strange, as strange as the ring on her finger, as if her head was to slow to keep up with everything, to keep track with what her heart already knew. She would spend her live at his side, they would care for each other, they would share good times and help each other through the bad ones. Max hand rested warm on her waist and she stepped slightly closer felt so incredibly safe in his embrace, wished for this moment to last forever. He leaned in for the kiss and she lifted her lips to his, kissed him softly, lovingly, closed her eyes and lost herself inhis touch, in the kiss. It was like a dream come true, almost too good to believe.

The thought froze something inside her and she pulled back a bit, just enough to look into his eyes.

"It's real. Tell me it's real."

She asked him over their bond, her voice quiet.

"I know it is, I want to believe it is, but please, tell me. This is no trick, it's real?"

Her hand tightened around his. Cloth, he was wearing cloth, she was seeing cloth. It was true. It needed to be.

She accepted the kiss and suddenly Max felt so good. He could feel his heart pounding, and he closed his eyes too, let himself feel the softness, the touch of lips, the love.

"It's real. Tell me it's real."

He heard Althea's voice in his head and opened his eyes. She was also looking at him, and her voice was quiet over the bond.

"I know it is, I want to believe it is, but please, tell me. This is no trick, it's real?"

Max paused, just taking in the moment, and thinking. She had seen him die, she'd seen an illusion out over Max, making him look different. She'd fought against a very powerful psychic. For a moment Max tightened his embrace comfortingly and smiled.

"It is real," he said over the bond, kissing her again. "I'm not going anywhere,"

In answer to her words he paused, his eyes met hers and then he smiled, smiled this beautiful smile of his, the one that touched her soul and made her heart beat faster. Comfortingly he tightened his embrace and Althea knew he understood when he didn't ask why, didn't found it strange or wondered about her plea.

"It is real,"

he replied before kissing her again.

"I'm not going anywhere."

She returned the kiss, gave in to the feeling of his lips on hers, of his arms around her body,  melted into that kiss and shut out everything else. He wasn't going anywhere. And she wasn't going to do this either.

Regarding the presents: please don't feel pressed to think of something. I'm totally fine with nothing, or whatever fits your character (like a rare decorated bone ^_^).

Though I only speek for myself here.

Now, I don’t know what we do with Laonin’s rings, because they’re really cool.

We wear them. Then it's two rings. It would be a shame to not use them.

It would.

Max didn’t know how long the kiss lasted for, but for him it could very well have been eternity. Eternity, trapped in a moment.

It could have lasted a lifetime. A brilliant lifetime, full of love. It was the kiss of a couple, the kiss of man and wife.

He didn’t know how long it was before that sweet moment was over, when the lips parted but the love didn’t stop. Still embracing, he gazed at Althea lovingly.

It was still pouring outside, but Max didn’t notice. He was too caught up in the moment, too focused on Althea, the wedding, the love.

He didn’t really know what to do next in a wedding, so he just continued standing there, with Althea, which was fine, because there was nothing he’d rather have done at that moment.
