I read a little bit of both the graphic and prose versions in Arcanum Unbounded, and the prose was much easier for me to follow.

However, that isn't to say the graphic novels weren't good! I think you can get the prose novel for free when you sign up for Brandon's newsletter. It will be in the first welcome email you get. It's also probably on his website.
