so

When I was but a wee youngin', mine father and I went a-hunting in the woods

Okay, so we had set up this hog trap in the middle of the woods, and there were like four or five (maybe even six) hogs in it, which was really good!

So things went about as normal, we shot the pigs before loading them up,

BUT THE BIGGEST HOG

WHICH WAS SEVERAL HUNDRED POUNDS

GOT UP

OFF THE GROUND

AFTER BEING SHOT IN THE HEAD

AND STARTED TRYING TO ESCAPE.

LIKE

I WAS SO FREAKED OUT.

My dad and the other people we were with weren't fazed like, at all though, so they shot it again and it went back down.

BUT THEN IT GOT UP

AGAIN

SO THEY SHOT IT

AGAIN

AND IT WENT DOWN, AGAIN

THEN IT GOT UP, AGAIN-

So anyway seven shots later it was finally, actually dead. Not sure how they knew that it was, but like

It didn't get up again.

So . . .

Long story short, ranger with lightning arrow active in an enclosed space against a group with their healer incapacitated = bad. especially when they don't want to kill him so they have to kill the mind flayer to free him. a shockingly similar situation happened when we fought a beholder actually.

I still don't think i've rolled higher than 12 on a dex check/save, I just always have good bonuses
