the internet, the cognitive realm, and spren

I'm not sure if this is where I should post it, and if it should be somewhere else, notify one of the admins so it goes where it should be.

now that that's out of the way:

if the Cognitive Realm were real, everything on the internet would exist in the cognitive realm, because the internet is really just a bunch of ideas floating around as data. because the internet is really just a bunch of ideas, and a lot of people interact with it, the internet would be an incredibly large source of Spren, including: Websitespren, Userspren, Postspren, Memespren, Topicspren, Threadspren, WoBspren, Upvotespren, and others. (autocorrect does not like any of those, so I stopped listing them.) The implications of this would be huge: Thread necros would actually be bringing a dead Threadspren back to life, We might be able to change our personal Userspren's appearance by changing our Profile picture, the Postspren would be happier when you give them Upvotespren... everything would be so different.

In addition, there might be a single, large Spren that would form as a result: The Internetspren, which would probably be large enough to become a higher spren, and possibly form a Radiant bond with.

feel free to: use some of the Spren names as a Username, come up with more Spren that would exist on the Internet, and create Radiant oaths for any varieties of the Spren, I'm interested to see where this goes.

Now the question is what surges do the higher spren grant through a Nahel Bond?

Also, would 4chan become one of the unmade?

Finally, what would Pornspren look like?

Edit: Potential Voidspren variants: Spamspren, Botspren, Addspren and Phishingspren

I wonder whether we'll see something like this with the emergence of the spanreed network. Though since we haven't seen any library/book-spren I doubt that will happen.
Though of course even if it's possible the Rosharn's are far away from conjuring some new voidspren variants.

I love the idea of the internet existing the Cognitive realm, but I really, really do not want to see that happen. Mainly because of places like 4chan, Reddit, and the Youtube comments section. Odium would be overloaded just by one of those websites. Not to mention that Honor spren would die on contact and Harmony would not be able to go anywhere near anything infested with the Internet spren.

Also, I do not want to see any internet spren forming any bonds. If they did, I suspect that the bond would physically warp the physical creature into something resembling a cross between an Koloss, an Mistwreath, and a Dahkor monk. The creature would have a foul, monosyllabic vocabulary and the ability to channel the powers of Ruin, Odium, Dominion, and entropy into focused, yet extremely weak attacks. In addition, they would have a powers similar, but vastly inferior to lightweaving and Rioting. These powers would have effects inverse to each other. Individuals and small groups would be able to create indistinct yet colorful imagery but be unable to do much with their Rioting-esque ablities. Inversely, the more of them there are in a certain area, the less they can do with their psedo-lightweaving and the more they can riot a crowd. They will now be known as the void-sparkers.

Well, if we assume the Radiant oaths will relate to what the majority (or at least vocal?) use the internet for...

Second Oath: "Everything I do I will post to the internet."

Third Oath: "Everything I don't do I will post to the internet."

Fourth Oath: "The cloud cannot die.  I will preserve the cloud."

Fifth Oath:  "Rule 34."

yes, I suppose there would be... other Spren that shouldn't exist. which is why someone would create a second Nightblood computer: they would awaken a computer with "Destroy Evil" and those spren would no longer exist, because whatever created those spren that shouldn't exist, won't.

and the entire Internet will be as nice a place as the Shard. (if only...)

Does that mean that the Sibling is just a proto-Internetspren? Think about it. Stretches to a lot of places, all radiating out from a single hub.

Good theory, though.

I would contend that "Proto-Internetspren" = Cryptic in the sense of ideas and even Existence being expressed via a fundamentally mathematical framework

That's also fair, but inkspren, lightspren, and cultivationspren would work too, probably.

Inkspren I could definitely see, being all about logic-based understanding and converting ideas to symbols and other such cognitive structures.  I dont really see the connection with Lightspren or Cultivationspren though, although I suppose Cultivationspren would likely enjoy the new development regardless.

Cultivationspren because of the large amount of people changing and growing due to a constant influx of new information. Lightspren because Google Maps allowing you to virtually go anywhere, the shopping areas, and also their communication via the copper lines on the Oathbringer ship is sort of like wires.

I see where you are coming from.  The cultivationspren logic seems wonky to me, but mostly because by that argument they should LOVE urban area's, but I'd have defaulted them to preferring remote/rural areas on the general Nature-spren image I have of them, which is itself probably not accurate.

There's probably some of both, honestly. If any type of spren was going to be varied, it would be the cultivationspren.

I mean... Wyndel grew a storming chair garden. I don't think they're limited to enjoying plant life.

I agree entirely, when I said wonky I meant that the failing was in my own overly-strong association between the concepts of Cultivation and Agriculture, which while difficult for me to shake thanks to a rural cultural upbringing is definitely a false equivalency here.

I like them up to the fourth Oath, but the Fifth made me nervous that this would end up being the Syl Thread 2.0. Please don't do that to this thread. so far, though, it is still a good discussion.

I just realized that people in general might blame Virusspren for viruses, just like they blame Rotspren for rot.

also, if the Internet is a place on the Cognitive Realm, then there would be a massive spren city there.
