Dwig had been looking for Ciera for some time now, but hadn't managed to find her. He'd saved the harbor for last, because he hated being near the water. He slowly walked through the harbor, scanning the workers for Ciera. Most of the workers saw his guns and gave him a wide bearth.

He noticed a girl standing by the harbor wall, looking out of place. Maybe she knew something. He carefully made his way over to her.

Adriana noticed a man walking towards her. Sparks hid behind her head. She put one of her hands in her jacket, making sure the knife was still there.

"What do you want?" she asked. People never walked up to someone without a reason.

Dwig broke off from staring at the water uneasily.

"What? Oh, I was wondering if you've seen my sister. She's about shoulder hight. My shoulder, I mean. Her hair is like mine, brown, curly and she has purple eyes."

Dwig probably looks pretty strange if she's never been off Roshar.

"Your- your sister? I just arrived here. I don't think I've seen her. In fact, I have not seen anyone since you. Do you know where I could find lodging?"

The man did not look like anyone she'd seen before. His eyes were shaped oddly, and he wasn't nearly as tall as some of the Alethi.

"Oh," she added. "I never caught your name."

Dwig frowned, then grinned as the whole of what she had said registered,

"You're new?" he asked, "My name's Dwig. Where are you from? Judging by your accent, I'd say Rosharan. From the east, if your skin color is any indication."

The ship reentered the section of the tunnels with walls, and the giant eye fell out of sight. He turned away from the railing, feeling a sense of... Regret? Longing? Whatever. It didn't really matter, anyways.

The squid had made him feel better, for some indescribable reason. Maybe it was just knowing someone was taking care of them in this tunnel. But now that he wasn't clutching the railing in terror, he could start talking to his fellow passengers.

I'll start with Shooter Dude, he thought.

He turned towards Red, smiling. "Hello. My name's Reylf. What's yours?"

Dwig started walking, hands in his trouser pockets

"I mean, the border is a bit sketchy. The Alleycity is weird. Old town's inside the walls, sure, and the guilds' headquarters, but the city stretches pretty far. Anyway, we're going to the Odd Job Tavern."

"Alright then." Leona followed him.

"You think I could find a job or something? I'm not exactly full of money." A lie, but he didn't need to know that. Most of her money was in spheres, which were dun now. She'd transferred all her stormlight into her bracelet. Somehow, she'd have to find a supply. "Also, what is a guild? Can I join one?"

“Redatrick,” Redatrick said while extending a hand, still looking into the direction the eye had gone. A ‘squid’? What was that? Whatever type of monster it was, it hadn’t seemed overly hostile, but rusts was it huge. “You can shorten that to whatever you want.”

He turned back to Reylf and holstered his shotgun. “You don’t seem too shocked at entering some sort of water portal, passing a giant ‘squid’ and then entering a kind of underground cavern.” He looked around again. “This some sort of n9rmal occurrence for you?”

Reylf shook his head. "Trust me, it's pretty unusual. But I adapt easily." He grinned.

“I don’t,” Redatrick noted, looking towards the ocean. Well, if was on this ship, he might as well, talk to the others.

“Stayed in one general location my whole life, in one nation, on one... planet, now that I know there’s more.”

The young boy set down a fresh pile of green papers. The message on these was much shorter than those remaining from previous batches, but given the seriousness with which Lin had told him to deliver them, he knew they were just as important - if not more so.

He took one for himself before scampering off to find someone to read it to him.

Anyone searching would have seen these small notes printed on the green paper.

Spoiler

PlasmaCore will do more harm than good. I know the thought of reaching out to them may be tempting if you fit their qualifications, but trust me, they do not support what is in the common person's best interests. Only their own.

-Lin

By morning all but a couple were gone. The young boy smiled.

Excuse me, can you please explain why Lin would do this?

During the dead of night, E.Z.R.A. 1 had taken the notes. Three had been taken, he left five. He burned the rest.

Of course.

Lin is Eve's pseudonym of sorts. Eve has a...history with Investiture. It's sort of like asking why Hellbent would kill people.

A woman took one of the remaining prints, read it and then started to ask questions. Who had put them there? How could she find them?

The young boy stepped up behind the woman. "She's that way in person too. Not just in person."

He normally didn't approach people, but today he was curious. Typically the boy didn't see the people who took the papers - he just dropped them off.

The woman turned.

"Did you write these papers?"

She asked him, holding one of them up to show what she meant.

"Oh, no, miss," he said, shaking his head. "I haven't got nearly the amount of courage I'd need to say what those do."
