Sorry, I'm late with my submission. Will send it today!

You've been cycling across Europe, what's my excuse?!

Hahah. Ive been back all week now so in truth im excuseless. I still intend to submit, even though right now I'm 45 miles away from my keyboard.

Oof--does anyone mind a lot if my submission for next week is about 5700 words? It finishes up this section, and I'd rather get the whole arc out so there's less WRS in the comments.

It's proving difficult to move house, work, and keep writing.

I'll throw my name in for next Monday, and see if I can forge some time to feedback this week. If there's a full house and it's still looking unlikely I'll get time, then I'll pull out. But that won't happen - go forth with confidence in deadline pressure!

So, I've been reading through numerous threads here on the Shard, doing a deep dive on all things Cosmere for the last few weeks and stumbled on this gem today. I have a novel I've been working on for what feels like forever and has just been awful for me in terms of editing and I'm wondering if joining in on this process wouldn't help get me out of my funk. The items I'd submit would be what I have already edited and cleaned up, within the set word count of course, which would put pressure on me to finish editing the rest of the manuscript.

Long story short, was hoping I could throw my name in to put in a submission this coming Monday.

Hi @LarkinTyvell. Welcome to Reading Excuses! You're welcome to sub (following the guidelines of course), but we do generally ask people to do some crits before they sub the first time. Get into the groove and all that.

Welcome, Larkin. We would love to read your stuff, I'm sure. Shaking people out of funks is our speciality :D

As Kais says, we need to get you signed up to the email list. Can you please PM myself and @Silk with the email address you wish to receive submissions to. (Silk is the big cheese around here, I am merely a common lackey and occasional footstool.)

As Kais says, if you haven't already, please do have a gander at the forum/submissions guidelines.

Delight to have you with us!

Oh, right, forgot that doing some Crit work first was suggested in the guidelines. I'll take your suggestion and do that for a week or two before I submit. I'm trying to get a PM to you and Silk Robinski, but for some reason it's thinking I'm doing a link with spam... I'm sure it's because I'm new, I'll figure out a work around.

Got the message now :)

Welcome! You’re added and good to go.

FYI all, I’m away this weekend at a songwriting workshop starting in, well, a couple of hours and the schedule is pretty aggressive. Which is another way of saying I might leave you all to count to five on your own for this week ;)

I'd love to jump on the submission train this week if there's room! It's been a while since I've submitted and I think I've actually got something worthwhile this time!
