Dymphna
Does anyone know or understand why many of the chapters in The Way of Kings often started with those words in the time table?
RShara she/her
..Do you mean the epigraphs that head some of the chapters? The Death Rattles?
Observer
If you haven't finished the book, you're treading on spoiler territory, so be warned. The epigraphs to Brandon's books are always in-universe documents, past present or future. You get Jasnah's research, Navani's journals, and the Death Rattles that Taravangian has been mass-murdering his hospitalized citizens to listen in on. It's his collection of future events, and he records every possible detail about the person who yelled it that could be telling, up to and including how long it took them to die afterwards. If you want more on the Death Rattles, check out the thread for it about 3 below in this forum.
Dymphna
Ok, that makes sense. Yes, I have finished the book. Thank you. I read on audible and sometimes figuring out where breaks are is difficult.
