“Miss Yzabet is unavailabile at the moment.” Mr Amber spoke to the room at large. “Any questions or requests you may have, bring them to me.”

If there's a bounty on that room at large, Clay would be happy to catch it for you.

Clay raised his hand, then waved it enthusiastically. "Ooh! Ooh! Mr. Amber! Yzabet asked me to taste every bar of chocolate in the Waystop. Weird request, I know, but who am I too question the boss? If you could just point me in the direction of your chocolate, I'd like to get started on that right away."

Kidspren set up a CPU Liebrarian thing didn’t he?

Night sauntered into the library. “Hello,” he said brightly. “Do you have some crayons and paper I could borrow?”

Ioc accepted the rags and squeezed any moisture in them into its mouth.

"Delicious," Ioc said. "Also, I don't wanna go. This place is fun!"

Damaya hastly stepped back as soon as the cloth had left her fingers, getting some distance between Ioc and herself. Seeing what he did with the rag, she turned to Araha:
"This doesn't lead anywhere. He or it or whatever, only wants to have our attention."
She hesitated, thinking about everything she knew about the woman. Which was almost nothing, but her name.
"Dinner is ready. If you want to eat something we could sit down at a table and talk? About the spren, maybe?"
For a moment she thought about suggesting that they could get to know each other better, but then decided againt it. The spren was a more or less harmless topic, plenty of room to skip around the woman and the man waiting for her back at Alleycity. Waiting for her to come back. Fear clouded her eyes for a moment and was gone when she pushed the thought away. She had to go back, she owed them everything. And yet, somehow, somewhere back in her mind, this everything felt small.

Posted

Araha nodded. "Yeah, I could go for something to eat." She then made her way past the small crowd and to the hallway, only to stop and turn. "Er... I don't know where the dining chamber is. It might be better if you lead." She chuckled.

Damaya laughed and nodded.
"No problem. It's at the end of the hallway, next to the kitchen."
The word kitchen sparked something in her mind.
"Speaking of the kitchen, I still have my bag standing there."
When they passed the kitchen, she headed inside and fetched her bag and walking-staff, form the corner next to the door. She then carefully closed the door behind herself and threw Araha an apologetic glance.
"Sorry, I somehow missed the whole, where can I sleep part and instead started working for a lesson. And now that Yzabeth is feeling unwell, I need to ask the man with the cane for more work to pay for a place to sleep. But there is always enough to do, so it shouldn't be a problem. I hope. At least it wasn't with Yzabet."
She realized that she was rambling and shut her mouth. The thought that the stranger maybe was more complicated that Yzabet was worrying, but it was nothing she could change so she decided to care with that problem should it arise. Opening the door to the dining room she offered Araha to step into it first.
"Here we are."

The dining room was fairly big for how relatively small the 'Stop was, and though it wasn't anything really special, it was still clean and felt welcoming. "Oooh, this is pretty nice in here." She said with a glance back at Damaya, then walked in and found some place to sit. A moment passed and she felt Ran tap her twice by her temple, different from the reprimanding nudges from earlier. This time just reminding her of a topic, most likely. "Oh! You wanted to talk about spren right?" She paused, "well, I wanna talk about spren," she chuckled, "You said that was a spren from earlier, that strange pattern-looking indentation on the floor? I don't know much about unique spren, just that they're connected to the surgebinding Investitures."

Posted

Damaya took a stool opposite of Araha, placing her bag and staff on the ground. It was only then, that she saw Coru sitting on her skirt, instead of hiding somewhere, or sitting on the floor or somewhere else. There was nothing she could do about him though, without pulling Arahas attention to the fact that she a Spren on her skirt and that would lead to a line of questions, she wasn't sure how to answer.
"I don't know that much about them either."
she conceded.
"But that spren on the floor was a cryptic. Miss Yzabet told me about them. And you're right, they grant surgebinding investitures, when you bond them. In their special case Lightweaving and Soulcasting. Lightweaving lets you create illusions, while soulcasting allows you to change something..."
she looked around for an example,
"like this cup, into sand. Or whatever you want it to be."
Falling silent for a moment she tried to remember whatelse Yzabet had told her about Coru.
"They look for lies. Or more excatly you need to accept truths about yourself and tell them openly to them to advance, instead of speaking oaths like you do when you bond another spren."
She smiled, unsure if that was the information Araha was looking for:
"Is that helpful for you?"

Posted

"Definitely! Or well, it's more interesting than anything else, but still!" Araha said then looked down at her plate of food which she began to eat, nothing too extravagant, but it was good and filling. "Before now," she continued, "I'd always thought that spren granted only one surge, I wasn't aware it was two. My master, Master Soren, taught me about the various Investitures, and basic Realmatic theory, and I do know that Soulcasting has something to do with the Cognitive Realm, that's as far as my knowledge goes though." She chuckled.

"Do you know of other bond spren?" She asked eager to continue discussing, she'd always marveled at how intriguing the topic of Investiture was, but she'd always forgot that it was this intriguing. She slowed down, remembering her politeness "Er sorry, do you have anything to ask me?"

“I doubt she actually asked you to do that, but I accept.” Mr. Amber pulled out a small box from under the counter. “This hasn’t been used yet and I can make more. Now you can either pay for it, or I can give you it as a free sample in return for a promise that you will continue to buy some.”

Damaya grinned, Arahas excitment about investiture was so different than her own feelings about Coru and everything she remembered, she saw when she looked at him. It was so easy to be drawn along, that she simply did.

"Yes, I do. There are ten different surges. And ten orders, each bonds to a different kind spren. I once met a woman with a spren, that looked like shimmering light on a wall. She used stormlight to heal refugees during the war. I think she would have been a Truthwatcher."

Her voice got quieter.

"But I owe her my life."

Looking for a new topic she asked:

"I don't know much about other types of Investiture though. Could you tell me something about them?"

"That woman sounds like a hero," Araha nodded, "someone who helped others for no reason other than to help them." She remembered when she herself was saved by a man who flew, but, why did she need to be saved in the first place? The memories started swimming to the surface, but before they could form images or sounds in her mind, Araha pushed them back to the depths, then shook her head. "Um anyway, I believe if she was a surgebinder, she was using the surge of Progression, surgebinders can use stormlight to heal themselves but not others, unless they have Progression, which I think helps heal wounds and, judging from its name, it helps progress life, I guess." She chuckled.

"She could've easily had a spren as well as other Investiture though, but mentioning them all is liable to take th'whole day. Just for surgebinding, there are ten different surges" She chuckled again, "I'll try my best to condense the information though. That I know of from the Cosmere, there are four major Investitures: Metallic Arts, which originate from Scadrial, surgebinding which originate here on Roshar, Awakening, or as scholars call them BioChroma, which comes from Nalthis, and Dor-based Investiture which comes from Sel." She said, every other word punctuated by a gesture. "There are also minor ones such as Sand Mastery, Cognitive sense, and shades, but I'm not too well versed in those."

"Actually," Araha looked around, to verify that they were around. "D'you want to see something interesting?" She asked Damaya, leaning in, voice low.

Ioc smiled as everyone left. Finally, some peace and quiet! Ioc didn't generally like attention and had to forcefully keep itself for teleporting away when the crowds came.

Honestly, you'd think nobody else had anything to do than watch some stranger fulfill it's life's dreams.

'I'm not sure it was entirely their fault...' said Prefrontal Cortex.

'Noted. Hippocampus, could you take that admonition to Long-term?' Asked Subconscious.

'Uh oh, I think I dropped it!' said Hippocampus. 'Oh well. That's too bad,'

'Guys, we are currently alone and unsupervised,' said Thalamus.

'Your heart rate is speeding up,' said Medulla.

'You are being stimulated by an outside thought or force,' said Reticular Formation.

'Don't worry, it's a thought, not a force,' said Amygdala. 'Are we ready to begin?'

'Three....' said Subconscious.

'What's happening?' asked Prefrontal Cortex. 'What's the plan?'

'DO I NEED TO PUNCH YOU AGAIN?' yelled Somatosensory Cortex.

'Two....' said Subconscious.

'Aren't you the one who was, like, five minutes ago, asking why we hurt ourself so much?' asked Association.

'Whose side are you one?' asked Amygdala.

'Just saying,' replied Association.

'One....' said Subconscious.

There was a pause.

'GO!!!!' yelled Subconscious.

And Ioc disappeared in a flash of beige that started in its eyes and finger/toenails, then slowly ate it's beige way up Ioc's body. one Ioc was completely submerged, the beige flashed and Ioc was gone from the room.

Araha nodded.

"Are you sure this is a good idea?" A small, quiet voice spoke near Araha's temple, it wasn't a whisper, just a very small voice, but it was quiet enough to have the function of a whisper.

Araha turned and cupped a hand to hide her mouth, whispering to her side where her 'hair clip' was. "Yeah, we're not giving away much by revealing that I'm a surgebinder, and besides, I think we can trust her."

"You're still quick to trust people, but fine."

"Just do it slowly so we don't startle her."

Ran made sure she was visible to the other woman and the green hair clip on Araha started floating from her head and in the air started growing larger, then turned into the form of a young woman, she nodded to Damaya. "Good eve." Then she sat on the air by the table.

Araha smiled, excited. She'd never showed anyone Ran before outside of Master Soren. "This's Ran," she gestured to her long-time friend with a grin. "She's my spren, specifically, an honorspren. I wasn't lying when I said I didn't know much about spren kinds, I only knew about Ran's own. She supposedly grants me Gravitation and Adhesion, but I've never done any of that before, for some reason." Araha rolled her eyes toward Ran.

"I've already told you that it's not my place to teach you." Ran said as a matter-of-factly reply and she crossed her legs, still sitting on nothing.

"That's why we came here." Araha said, shaking her head. "That's not important right'now." She looked back at Damaya, excited to see the woman's expression. "Preeeeetty interesting, wouldn't you say?"

"Yup, sure is," said Ioc as it appeared between them. "Very interesting,"

Then Ioc disappeared again before anything else could happen, and thus was not godmodding by cutting off another player's move.

Damaya stared at Ran. A spren, Araha also had a spren. And the spren could talk to her. Die that mean that Coru could also talk to someone else? Suddenly the strange man appear and she jumped up, a small starteled cry escaping her.

"What..."

She started and then he was gone.

"Im sorry."

She excused herself and sat down again.

"It's nice to meet you Ran."

Grinning at Araha she added:

"Yes, that's really interessting. More than interessting. How long since you bonded?"

Posted (edited)

Araha ignored the sudden appearance and disappearance of the man, or more like partially subconsciously forgot that happened.

Ran nodded at Damaya's comment, smiling back. More of a smirk really.

"We bonded since I was about five or six years old, not very sure of the specific year now." Araha replied. "I'm twenty now, err... twenty-one Rosharan time, but twenty generally, so that's about fifteen or fourteen years." She chuckled at what she was about to say next. "Wow, imagine dealing with this headache for fifteen years." She gestured toward Ran.

"If I recall, I'm the older sister, so I believe it's you who was the headache." Ran replied, not a hint of malice in her voice, but still keeping her smirk.

"Well, with how much older you are, you're more like a mother." Araha crossed her arms.

"I take no offense to that." Ran shrugged.

"Sparks, y'got me." Araha smiled in defeat. She turned back to Damaya. "As y'can see, we're good friends." She scratched her head and chuckled. "Is this your first time 'meeting' a spren?"

I mention the Rosharan time thing since I remember Brandon Sanderson mentioning in his BYU lectures that time telling on Roshar was different by like a year than everywhere else.

Damaya shook her head.

"Actually it isn't. There is a reason I know more about Cryptics than about the rest."

She looked down at Coru and sighed.

"Could you come up please?"

She asked him and he formed a spiral and then up on her cloths until he sat on the table. Smiling at Araha she added:

"I have one of my own. But we aren't that close, like you and Ran are. I have to admit that he usually follows me somewhere behind and I try to ignore that he is here."

She put a hand next to Coru and smiled at him, the smile sad and fond at the same time, her voice silent. She was more talking to herself.

"Most of the time at least. I never asked for it, I never wanted it. Such power only leads to another war, to more death and destruction."

Araha's relaxed posture turned to one of attention when Damaya revealed her own spren and her eyes widened. From her reluctance and her words themselves, she seemed to be one who'd want to keep her spren a secret, but the fact that Damaya trusted Araha enough to reveal Coru actually warmed her heart. Ran's posture was also more intent, more surprised than anything, but she still managed to keep an air of maturity despite this.

At her words though, Araha nodded thoughtfully, "I have my own opinions. Like most Investiture and just power in general, they can be used for different ends, I guess. Like that healer, she had power, but she used that to help rather than to harm. I don't know her or her motives, but those aren't important, what matters were her actions." Araha paused, considering her words. "I guess that yeah, having power can cause more destruction, but I think that's up to the person." After a brief moment, Araha, quickly interjected herself. "I-I didn't mean to lecture you!" She laughed nervously. "Um, can Coru talk too?" Yes that's it, Ara. Change the topic! Araha thought to herself.

that's mean, why'd they threaten that? XD

Because his own ran out of power :P

"No it's fine. And you're right."

Damaya replied thoughtfully, looking at Coru.

"It's only that I can't look at him without remembering what happened."

She fell silent again, unsure how to continue.

"It's a long story and I don't really want to talk about it. Let's just leave it with, I have a spren?"

Damaya hated the pleading tone underneath her voice in the end. Araha was nice, but she didn't know her. She'd never told anyone what happened. Mostly because there was nobody she trusted. She seldom had a chance to meet someone, and she wouldn't ruin this by talking about - the house she lived in. Coru felt her emotions, like he always did, and curled a part of himself around her finger, silently comforting her.

"I can talk."

He replied to Araha, saving her and gently shaking her out of her dark thoughts.

"I am Corundum, although I am only called Coru."

He lifted himself up a bit and did something that could have been a bow.

"It's a pleasure to meet both of you."

Ioc appeared in an empty room, sparsely decorated. It didn't look at the room much though. It was focused on the glowing bomb in its hand.

'Is this right?' asked Prefrontal cortex.

'If you think it's not, I think it is!' said Amygdala.

'Well, that's settled then,' said Subconscious. 'Let's do it,'

Ioc pressed a large button and placed the bomb in the center of the floor.

It was still in the Waystop, in one of the more exclusive rooms. This bomb could obliterate <REDACTED> <REDACTED> in every direction. It would be devastating.

Ioc laughed. It liked being unpredictable. Everyone thought it was a fun-loving being.

They were right. This was awesome!!!

The bomb was ticking. Ioc disappeared in a flash of beige.

Yall can decide where the bomb is. I'll detonate in an amount of time. Yall can do whatever you want with the information in this post. I won't complain.
