Dr. Device was about to be loosed. Somehow, the technology of the Alleyverse had been advanced to Ender's Game-esque stuff.

Well, no. I'm not using that.

But here's the long-awaited thermo-nukes!

On The Honor of Maccrage:

The tech-priest squinted her eyes at the insignifant blue dot that was the Alleyverse. It was hard to imagine such a small place could house so much pain. She knew there was only one option left, one last cleansing.

The city had fallen. The astropaths were reporting that a second wave of daemons were approaching, and she could see, through her satellite-linked screen, parts of the city falling.

She stared at the rune in the corner, glistening in the harsh mechanical light with an almost spiteful glow. She knew what it did. She never thought she'd have to use it.

But she did. She started the Exterminatus

Machines whirred as they spun in their place, reacting to her chants, rattling with loose parts, parts which carried the weapon that would be the end of this city. They grew more and more hungry, the only sound the tech-priest could hear.

"My armour is contempt," She said, swiping across the screen. Warheads locked into position, feeding into the towering cannons that dominated the weapons deck.

"My shield is disgust." On the screen, a section of the city exploded in filth and gore as a Nurgle daemon manifested. She could almost see the mass of bloated flies and putrid flesh as it slowly swallowed the buildings around it.

"My sword is hatred!" She shouted, plugging her mechandrites into the console and aiming the point-gun defenses. Ancient systems activated, swiveling towards the city and firing their payload. The Nurgle Unclean One was struck by lances of burning plasma and storms of flak, and it vanished from the screen.

She unplugged her mechandrites, raising her hand. Suddenly, everything seemed to quiet as the tech-priest hesitated over the confirmation rune.

"By the Emperor's name," she whispered, pressing the symbol, watching the massive guns swivel towards the fallen city.

"Let none survive."

The guns fired.

------------------

Glimmering shields of Aonic symbols flickered up, surrounding the Canton in a dome of impenetrable energy.

Inside the control room, a space marine stepped away from the activation console and breathed a sigh of relief.

“Whew!” he said. “I thought for sure we wouldn’t make it in ti-“

A bloated chaos marine appeared and plunged a knife into his back.

“Gurgle gurgle gurgle,” the space marine finished, falling to the ground.

Thanks to the Writer's Guild for helping me flesh out this, and special thanks to Itiah.

Oh, and the shields are about to be turned off by a diseased Chaos Marine. Make of that what you will.

The guns fired. The Alleycity was hit.

Stuff started exploding.

Tena took the Perpendicularity to Scadrial, having seen what she safely could.

Syen walked through the compound, her guards a step behind her, looking for someone she could ask what was going on and if she could help somehow. When she heard the gurgling sound and the thump of a body hitting the floor she started running towards the origin.

It took her a moment to understand the situation and another one to recognize the fact, that she was definitly the wrong person to be here. Throwing her rolling pin at the Black armored person first, she then tired to encase him in a completely black illusion, hoping he wouldn't be able to see through it. At least it wasn't something she could do.

Then she turned around, yelling for help as loud as she could.

@kenod

You're right. Good question ;)

KoTiel was wandering around when they heard a woman yelling for help. "Rust and ruin, again," they though, annoyed. Quickly, they starting sprinting in the direction of the yelling, pushing people out of the way.

Is the marine going to be controlled by you?

We'll see how it goes ;)

The plague marine disappeared in the cloud of darkness.

The room went silent, save for the low buzz of a fly. Somewhere, a liquid slowly dripped onto the floor, echoing through the hall.

In my canton? welp, that Chaos marine won't last long.

Devaan watched in his canton as the wave of destruction razed the city. Leaving the worldpspike, the DA and that Canton left. The advanced aonic shielding hadn't come cheap, but it payed off the end.

Devaan sat down next to a civilian couple, one of them was nursing a wound, claw marks raked across the man's chest, bloody and ragged. He looked around at the rest of the civilians, at least half of them were wounded. With a wave of his hand, he tried to call Syen over.

Syen was gone. he heard a yell.

"Syen. I want you back in the main hall, gather the wounded and cordon off a room as a makeshift infirmary, I'll deal with this"

Syen backed away hurriedly, ducking around the corner. Good, no interruptions.

Devaan heard a low buzz, and whipped around to the sound of the noise

No, you don't have to. This is a reset of plot, an prime time for newcomers to come in, and a chance to change characters if you want to. If you don't want to change characters, then just have them age 16 years, or go into stasis.

Nothing. An empty hallway stretched before Devaan, the air eerily silent.

A single, bloated fly landed on Devaan's arm.

KoTiel ran into the room, and found a woman and a black area. "What in Harmony's name is happening here?", they asked, with an edge in their voice.

Guessing the darkness illusion is still there?

Wait, aren't Lines of Forbiddance blunt? I'm pretty sure they can't cut through people like that.

I hope that isn't true, but if it is, I'll change it to something else involving a hammer and stormlight.

Solace turned back to Lord Dominion and Lady Devotion. "I have completed the task you have assigned me. Now if you permit I would like to retire somewhere to rest and retire. I have used my breaths up in this task and will be aging. Something I do not want to change."

"this request will be granted, of course, but there is one more thing I need you to do. Where we stand will be safe to what is to come, but there are plenty of people who will not have evacuated safely when this city is leveled. There is one you must find. A child, six years of age, she will be by her dead parents when you find her. You will take her and mentor her. You will not be able to find her until her parents are dead so do not try. When she is twenty-fifth Alley-year then you may have your desires granted but not until then." Lord Dominion said.

Syen looked at Ko Tiel and waved a hand in the general direction of the black area. It wasn't big, just big enough to cover someone about as big as a human.

"He killed the other guy. And he's definitly one of the evil ones. I read he wants to deactivate the shield or walk through the canton, killing. Icovered him in an illusion because that's everything I could think of to buy time."

She hesitated then added, trying to keep her voice steady:

"The downside is, that we don't know what he does, though he shouldn't be able to see anything. If you trust yourself to fight him, I'll dissmiss the illusion."

@Nohadon

Syen will gladly organize the wounded as soon as the situation with Chaos Space Marine is resolved. I would be unlogical for her to leave right now.

Devaan stared at the fly, and activated the Aons carved into his skin. He lightly tapped his atium card, waiting for an attack.

"Good work with the illusion. Take this weapon for now" Devaan handed Syen Atius

"Try not to die while holding it" Devaan drew Sethramir, there was a faint humming in his mind, then a soft male voice spoke

So, sorry about Rashan. What he did was noble, I couldn't save him though

"He unlocked you?" Devaan said, bewildered

He did it before you.

"Storms."

Devaan put up a speed bubble, then inspected the illusion.

"On my mark, dismiss it" He said to Syen

"Hey you, Kandra. If you can fight I want you to get behind the illusion, Syen, step to the right of it, I'll take the front" Devaan told KoTiel

"You all ready?"

KoTiel sighed, and moved behind the shadow. "Just so you know, I can keep him busy, since won't be able to kill me," KoTiel told Devaan. "I hope so at least," they added hesitantly. "I probably won't be able to harm him that much though, I don't have a lot of experience fighting." They shifted their weight, preparing for the fight. "Anyway, I'm ready." They told the others.

Bewildered Syen looked at the weapon in her hand not even sure how to hold it properly. Well, it was better than nothing. Or at least she hoped so.

Carefully stepping to the right side she took a deep calming breath. Fear let her hands shake a bit and her heart pounded like she was running for her life.

She felt for the thread connecting herself to the illusion and pulled it tight, ready to snap.

"I'm ..."

Her voice broke somewhere along the line and so she cleared her throat and tried again.

"I'm ready."

Syen cut her connection to the illusion and it evaporated in a whisp of Stormlight.

The darkness evaporated, leaving behind...

Nothing. The chaos marine was gone.

Quiet laughter filled the room, growing louder before trailing off with a pathetic whimper.

Meanwhile, somewhere, two Kaiju were having at it. Distant rumbles could be heard, despite the fact the battle was happening far, far away, and most people thought it was just the wind. Still, it was happening.

If this is too soon, let me know

The marine was gone.

"Well. That was a waste of time. I'll send some guards down to patrol around here, Sorana, set up an infirmary in the old spikesulate"

Devaan stepped outside. The Shield was gone.

Oh storms.

Around him stood a decimated city. Devaan sat down and glanced at the timekeeping fabrial on the door. Had it only been a week since the war started? it felt longer.

Devaan started packing most of his things, retrieving the sword from Sorana.

The War was almost over.
