[OB] Dalinar=Oathbringer=Bondsmith?

So do we have confirmation (via WoB) that Oathbringer was the Bondsmith book? Brandon has confirmed that just because a books flashback is about one character, doesn’t mean the Knights Radiant Order focused on in the book has to be theirs.

My question stems from the fact that other than Dalinar’s whole Unity thing going on, which we don’t understand yet anyway, plus a little showcase of his Surges, how much info did we get about Bondsmiths in general.

(As I write this I realize there were all the conversations about the Sibling, but still, not that much stuff)

On the other hand, we learn ALOT about Nale and the Skybreakers, their training, their hierarchy, their mindset, their ideals. In fact, this is the only Order of Radiants that we’ve seen even hinting at the 5th ideal.

I haven’t seen much about this but if I’m missing something, please fill me in

The U.S. hardcover is yellow, and has the Bondsmith glyph embossed on the front cover, so those are pretty strong indications to me that this is the Bondsmith book. We do get a lot about the Skybreakers in it (although we still haven't really seen Division, their other Surge), but you could also make a case that we learned more about Windrunners in WoR (through Kaladin's struggles with his Oaths, and defending Elhokar) than in WoK.

But then what about Szeths book?

That seems like a perfect Skybreaker focus because we will get his backstory and likely see him progress on his paths.

I could see Szeth’s book having very little to do with the Skybreakers as I assume his flashbacks will take place before he was named ‘truthless’

I have the e-book, so no idea there. But the fact that it’s Jasnah (I think) on the cover shows that cover art doesn’t indicate anything about the book.

About not seeing Division, we got a glimpse, which is basically all we got of the Bondsmith Surges in this book, as well as Soulcasting in WoR (the Lightweaver book).

Also, I think there’s a WoB that specifically says that the first two books are Windrunner and Lightweaver. I’d guess that it’s about seeing a character going through steps in understanding their Order, which Kaladin, Shallan, and Szeth do, but Dalinar doesn’t. He just kind of progresses without much understanding (at least on our part)

Yeah, it's Jasnah on the cover art, but I'm referring to what's under the dust jacket. When you take it off, the actual covers of the Stormlight books are colored to match a Radiant Order and have the matching glyph (stylized into the shape of a sword, referred to sometimes as "honorblade" glyphs among the fans) impressed into the front. Way of Kings was blue, with the Windrunner glyph. Words of Radiance was dark red, with the Lightweaver glyph. And Oathbringer was yellow, with the Bondsmith glyph. And Brandon did confirm that these colors and glyphs match up to the book's Order:

Just wondering what color the book is and what are the glyphs on it for the hardcover version? (book one and two are blue and red and have the glyphs for justice and something else IIRC)

Brandon Sanderson

This is the Bondsmith book, so the color (yellow) and glyph should match that. (Theoretically.)

The question was asked June 2017, before OB came out, but after Brandon had finished writing it.

Well there goes that idea. Thanks

I'm expecting his flashbacks to show us what the Shin are like, and his viewpoint chapters will have a lot of insight for how the Skybreakers work.

A lot of the flashbacks don't show much of their radiant nature as far as I can tell.  It's focused on the backstory with some other stuff sprinkled in.  We might get to glimpse some cool surges though if we see him practicing with honorblades.
