SzethIsBadAsHell he/him
Only recently on a re read did I actually peruse the letters. For the first time I could actually read what was happening and begin to understand . So Frost by all accounts an ancient Wyrm tries to contact Hoid and stop meddling in affairs of the other Shard holders . It implies that Hoid is bitter about something he lost .From the way it’s worded it sounds like a lover . Frost keep saying move on . Anyways what’s most interesting is the faction called the seventeenth shard . They are apparently hunting Hoid! I’m wondering who recruits them ? Are they in any of the unpublished novels? I recognize Galladon, Demoux, Baon, Even if Galladon has his abilities , which I thought he lost if he left Sel , I doubt they could capture Hoid.! Wandering Investor
We currently know very little about the 17th shard. We do not know how they recruit, or what their true motivations are. The little we do know is that the group is made of worldhoppers, who some of their members are, and that they were chasing Hoid in SA, they prefer nonintervention, and think they Shards should stay away from each other. And no, I doubt they could actually capture Hoid if he resisted. Maybe, because we don't know what they can all do, but not likely. Just want to say Frost is a dragon. Also, this. Frost is a dragon. Different lores have different definitions of dragon vs wrym vs wyvern, so I would use the exact wording that Brandon uses, in this case dragon. To me a Wyrm is the most Ancient of Dragons . A worm is like a slug. So I assumed everyone would understand I meant Dragon in the most epic sense. Storyspren
Let's think about this out loud a minute. Reasons somebody might want to find Hoid in no particular order: 1) They are mad at him because of something he did to them personally. (Seems unlikely. Too much trouble to go through for the minor annoyances we've seen. He's just annoying.) 2) They believe he has information they need or want. (Very plausible.) 3) They want to prevent him from doing something. (How though?) 4) Sheer curiosity about the random dude they realized that they have all met or heard of. (Similar to number 2 but they don't even know what they might get out of him. I think if this were the case, we'd already know. On the other hand this would play into their name. Like us 17th sharders they would just be fascinated with this guy. I still like 2 better) 5) They think he has something they want (other than information). (Like oh any of the many things he seems to have stolen. Space police going after Thanos sort of thing). 6) They perceive his very existence as a threat somehow. (Vague but very cosmere-y.) Personally I'm going with a combo of 2 and 5. Some 17 sharders just want info, some just want their stuff back, some might want both. So the cosmere cops got together to find Hoid. I know demoux is in it but please please let Wayne join too. Wayne has a chance of getting inside Hoid's head like nobody else because of his particular talent.
Calderis he/him
As to their recruitment methods, we don't know exactly. As to Hoid, they are trying to stop him from meddling. Their worried that his activities will screw things up for... Whatever it is they're doing. Quote Questioner The Seventeenth Shard—is their purpose limited solely to tracking down Hoid? Or all Worldhoppers or is it something grander than that? Brandon Sanderson No, they have other stuff. It is grander than that. Questioner He's just one of many priorities? Brandon Sanderson Yes. They are very worried about what he's going to be doing. Questioner But there's others they're worried about as well? Brandon Sanderson Yes... They have a task, they have goals, and they are worried that he is going to be [at] cross purposes to them, so is trying to hunt him down. source For what they would do if they caught him? Like Hoid himself, I don't think they even know.

I doubt Nightblood would help anyone catch anything. And just because they aren't able to catch him, as is apparent by the fact they never came anywhere close, doesn't mean they aren't trying. Oh I know they trying to catch , I didn’t say u said differently . I just think it’s frivulous , he changes his appearance too much . And even if they caught him that couldn’t restrain him unless they had a device they could use against him . I’m basically saying it’s a frivolous mission
Weltall
They're well aware he changes his appearance and while they don't necessarily have the power to restrain Hoid for very long if he really doesn't want to be restrained (but bear in mind, two of the people actively looking for him were professional soldiers beforehand) there's also a slight issue on Hoid's part: He is incapable of even thinking about causing physical harm without being potentially incapacitated. On the general recruitment question, pretty much the only things we know for certain are that they do have specific criteria for membership but being Invested isn't one of them. Quote Dragon13 Are there requirements to join the Seventeenth Shard, and would they accept, for lack of a better term, a non-enhanced member? Brandon Sanderson Yes and yes... Baon is not Invested... source Edited June 23, 2018 by Weltall

Yeah I was talking about this today with someone . I didn’t know it was real . I thought it wasn’t . Cause he sure beat Kelsier butt. That’s an interesting drawback . I guess he is limited to illusions, emotional allomancy and general evasiveness. Thanks for sharing that source with me
