At the moment, I just started a re-read of Robin Hobbs Farseer books. Planning to go through the whole collection. They're good, as long as you don't mind main character suffering.

And I mean, a lot of suffering.

Poor Fitz.

You think that's just exclusive to Fitz ? I read her soldiers son trilogy(first book) she also makes the main character their suffer. I do not want to be part of her story.

@Llarimar First of all thank you for the recommendations. I have heard of Soleri and will definitely be giving the book a try as well as The Shadow of What was Lost. Both look extremely intriguing and I am always willing to give a first time author a shot. Supporting up-and-coming writers is just such a positive thing to do! I am so happy you tried Red Sister by Mark Lawrence too!! Once you have finished the book please let me know what you thought! I have enjoyed Lawrence for awhile. I still have not read the sequel yet due to a reread I am doing right now of Mistborn but will be hopefully getting to it soon.

@Hoids Imaginary Friend Some great recommendations! Thank you! I have a question regarding Brent Weeks Lightbringer series. Having not read this series yet I was wondering about your thoughts concerning the later books in the series. I have heard from fans of Weeks that Lightbringer starts amazing but then begins to lose focus in later books almost becoming a chore, (as described to me by a friend). What is your opinion of the series as a whole so far?

The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss are amazingly well written. I'm a huge Kvothe fan, and am eager to see how it goes forward.

The author that made me realize I liked Sci-fi/Fantasy was L.E. Modesitt Jr. His Saga of Recluse series is a world I loved to read about, with Chaos and Order being a balanced magic system that can be harnessed by mages.

Seventh Tower by Garth Nix is also an intriguing story.

I have read everything by Rothfuss so far and have enjoyed his work for the most part. For some reason I am terribly worried about book three in the Kingkiller Chronicles. I cannot exactly pinpoint why but with movies being developed to go along with television shows reportedly I just fear Pat may end up changing the original intention of the series as a result of recent developments. I hope I am wrong and I probably will be; which is good! I just am worried about the series a little bit. Thoughts?

@LtGrimes618 Just an FYI, double and triple posting is generally frowned upon. It's best to edit a post if you want to add something to it.

Also, I will be back soon with some recommendations of my own. =)

It's torture. Wouldn't wish it even for my enemies ;-)

I am currently reading the Reckoners. Got a copy of Aether of Night and read that too. Finished Elantris, Warbreaker and Mistborn before reading Oathbringer. Can you tell I like Sanderson?

In case you like sci-fi I can recommend Red Rising (but I'm not up-to-date with that, didn't read the last book yet), Ender's Game, Forever War.

I highly recommend Red Rising. Pierce Brown weaves some amazing themes in that series and has not shown any signs of slowing down!

Yeah, I don't doubt if there's going to be a 3rd book, it's going to be good and all... BUT WHEN IS IT GOING TO BE OUT? At this point in time I'm not even sure he's working on it anymore

I'm rereading Mistborn Era 1 at the moment and will probably do Era 2 afterwards. Or maybe SA, if I've gotten the books back from the friend who borrowed them.

Outside of the Cosmere: the new Rangers Apprentice book has dropped and I am super excited to read that. There's also new Shadowhunter short stories that have come out that I've been putting off till after exams. Along the same thread, I'm going to reread the Dark Artifices at some point in the next few months in preparation for the last book to come out in November!

I've been holding off my reading until after exams BUT my last one is on Thursday  morning and then I am free!

@LtGrimes618

Sorry for the tardy reply.

Honestly I feel I'm a bit biased regarding Mr Weeks: Lightbringer.

I think its great, love it.. I would more say the 1st half is slower and I dont think any of it was a chore - 5th book which is the "last" book of the series is scheduled for late 2019 and Mr Weeks is fairly regular in releasing every 2 years so at the least its going to be finished soon. Though in saying that it was supposed to be a trilogy and than suddenly its 4 books and than the author is apologising that it just wont fit.. so, lets say tentative last book.

But as I said previously, love the magic system and may be interesting for Sanderfans due to the magic revolving around colors.
