Observer Posted April 8, 2014 Report Share Posted April 8, 2014 The fact that her mother seemed to be at least a little bit in-the-know about Lightweaving powers, as well as her eventual actions, tells me that she probably wasn't the most stable person in the world. I've always thought that it was Shallan's mother who was abusing/unstable, and she rubbed off on her husband a little as they fought. Shallan probably did what Hoid did in Liar of Partinel, creating imaginary friends to talk and listen to. She does mention before Jasnah's philosophy lesson that she used to enjoy imagining that various objects were actually other, more foreign things.
