It neutralized exactly the effects of the potion. His selflessness, sadism, and recklessness were reduced.

Unfortunately, it wasn't powerful enough to cure his either his current grief or the grief of all the things he'd done while under the influence of the potion.

He collapsed to his knees, sobbing.

Kelsier was extremely confused, but Star dismissed him before he could question what he had done. She knelt down beside Marsh and took his face in her hands. "I'm sorry," she said. "I was... possessed or whatever. But I'm back." She smiled and kissed him on the cheek.

Marsh lifted a hand to her cheek, tears streaming down his face. “That wasn’t me. That was Vin. That was Elend. That was...him,” he said, gesturing to Kelsier. “I almost ruined it all.”

Star shook her head. "Maybe. But they could never have done it without you. Life has not been kind to you, I know that. I haven't been kind to you. But this time, I promise you; you will get your happy ending."

Star chuckled. "You couldn't have killed me. I'm a Narrator! And besides, Marsh. I don't care that you did that. Because I can see past those heavy spikes of yours. You are a good man. I see that, even if you don't."
