He got her, but she stumbled away and shot at him with her laser.

Rebel and Atredies decided to fight Rebus, and that the best way to do that was to fight Bat. But they realized that the best way to fight Bat was to fight Cricket first, since he'd protect Bat. And so they decided that the best way to fight Cricket was to fight Rose, because Cricket would come to her aid. And then Rebus was right there anyway, so it didn't matter. 

"Thank you for your... restraint. I knew I would need that teleporter, one day," Rebus said, smirking. There was still anger in his eyes, but he was back in control of the situation - and himself. "I should probably kill you now." 

The blades passed through the figure with the crossbow. Its red eyes brightened, and it shot at her, smoothly reloading as it walked forwards. 

Rebus held her hand gently. "Rest. It's alright - Fate will get you to safety."

Atreides shouted in pain, the laser cutting a rather large hole in his armor. With Enulling gone, it took away a major advantage of Rebus. Of course, he was still fighting two other foes at the moment.

Cricket grunted, slashing  Savior Complex at Atreides, who parried expertly. He ducked beneath his next blow, rushing in with a jab, which cut through Atreides' armor. The Blade chanted quietly in his mind. Save lives! Save lives!

Atreides grunted in pain, feeling blood. He knocked Savior Complex away from him, falling back into a defensive position. 

Cricket advanced on him slowly, wary of his opponent. They traded blows, neither drawing blood. Then Cricket rushed forward, Savior Complex roaring in his head. Save lives! Save lives! 

The Blade began to glow, sucking the light from the room. Cricket yelled, and rammed the Blade at Atreides, pinning his shoulder.

Atreides screamed in pain, as Savior Complex grew louder, enveloping Cricket's mind. SAVE LIVES! SAVE LIVES! SAVE LIVES!

Cricket twisted the Blade, ripping it out of his shoulder, and slashed at the Narrator, who feebly blocked it.

SAVE LIVES! SAVE LIVES! SAVE LIVES!

Soon everyone in the room could hear the Blade, draining all other sound.

Atreides desperately tried to escape, but Cricket mercilessly advanced, knocking Crusade out of his grip. The Blade leapt forward, propelled by its own force, slicing off Atreides' hand, spilling blood everywhere.

Atreides screamed in pain. "Please! Mercy!"

Cricket hesitated, but the Blade swung again, narrowly missing Atreides' head.

Atreides screamed in anger, shouting for mercy, and somewhere in Cricket, something broke. He called for mercy. He pleaded. He couldn't kill him, could he . . . He could. He raised the Blade, trying to dismiss his hesitation. 

Atreides stretched out his remaining hand, screaming desperately and Crusade flew into it. He parried the stroke as the Blade glowed golden, contrasting sharply with the darkness of Savior Complex.

Cricket put all his weight against the sword, drawing up sparks from Crusade. The two Blades began to glow, brighter and brighter, until an explosion erupted from the Blades, engulfing the room. 

Atreides and Cricket were hurled to opposite sides slammed against the wall, and the Enulling field broke. The shards of the two Plotblades lay in the center, intermingled.

Well, it would have been a good - if complicated - strategy had Rebus not been right there. 

Rebus stopped hovering, stepping lightly to the ground. The shards of the Plotblades sank into the floor. "Now then," he said, pinning Rebel and Atreides in place with utility fog, "would you like to surrender? I wouldn't worry much about your Blade, Cricket; it's likely better gone."

Platypus destroyed Magnificent Bastard a while back. 
Rebus spread his arms, smiling broadly. “Of course I am! And not just after it, either; I believe I’m the closest anyone has ever gotten.” 

 @xinoehp512, since I was ninja’d. 

Rebus frowned, shivering and alone in the snow. 
I suppose, though I’m not sure the figure has hit anyone yet… The whole battlefield is only corporal when necessary; I guess Bacon missed the context about the combat test. 

A crossbow bolt very slowly hit the time bubble, and it popped with an explosive bang. More footsteps in the distance sounded, loud at first but getting quieter.

Bat glared up at Rebus, then doubled over coughing, blood spattering his hand.
It didn’t matter. He was bleeding out already, and it was just a matter of time. 
Besides, Tam was gone, and despite her Author’s assurances, he got the feeling she wouldn’t be back for a long time, if ever. 
There was no point to earning Protagonist anyway. Everything was fictional. Everything he was trying to save… none of it mattered anyway. 
“I guess you should,” he rasped. “So why are you waiting?” 

Rose frowned, crouching defensively. 

“Wait— wait! Rebus, what are you doing?” 
He wasn’t going to leave her…? 
She didn’t know what would happen if he left her.

Cricket advanced on him slowly, wary of his opponent. They traded blows, neither drawing blood. Then Cricket rushed forward, Savior Complex roaring in his head. Save lives! Save lives! 

The Blade began to glow, sucking the light from the room. Cricket yelled, and rammed the Blade at Atreides, pinning his shoulder.

Atreides screamed in pain, as Savior Complex grew louder, enveloping Cricket's mind. SAVE LIVES! SAVE LIVES! SAVE LIVES!

Cricket twisted the Blade, ripping it out of his shoulder, and slashed at the Narrator, who feebly blocked it.

SAVE LIVES! SAVE LIVES! SAVE LIVES!

Soon everyone in the room could hear the Blade, draining all other sound.

Atreides desperately tried to escape, but Cricket mercilessly advanced, knocking Crusade out of his grip. The Blade leapt forward, propelled by its own force, slicing off Atreides' hand, spilling blood everywhere.

Atreides screamed in pain. "Please! Mercy!"

Cricket hesitated, but the Blade swung again, narrowly missing Atreides' head.

Atreides screamed in anger, shouting for mercy, and somewhere in Cricket, something broke. He called for mercy. He pleaded. He couldn't kill him, could he . . . He could. He raised the Blade, trying to dismiss his hesitation. 

Atreides stretched out his remaining hand, screaming desperately and Crusade flew into it. He parried the stroke as the Blade glowed golden, contrasting sharply with the darkness of Savior Complex.

Cricket put all his weight against the sword, drawing up sparks from Crusade. The two Blades began to glow, brighter and brighter, until an explosion erupted from the Blades, engulfing the room. 

Atreides and Cricket were hurled to opposite sides slammed against the wall, and the Enulling field broke. The shards of the two Plotblades lay in the center, intermingled.

A hole opened up in reality into a nondescript white room. It swallowed Symbol whole.

Symbol screamed, fighting it, but there was nothing she could do.

Rebus looked at where Symbol had been, slightly stunned. “Somehow I’d thought I would stay with her… what is your price, Fate?” 

Oh no. OH NO. 

“Did you really think that you could beat me on my own turf?” Rebus sighed. “With my Plotblade broken, you might have even been able to beat me if you’d chosen a different battlefield.” 

He hit an invisible wall as he tried to get closer to Atredies. It wouldn’t do to have Cricket killing a potential right-hand man.

His own stuff, sure. If he's acting like an illusion while shooting real weapons though, well, Bacon takes issue with that!

Rebus frowned, shivering and alone in the snow. 
I suppose, though I’m not sure the figure has hit anyone yet… The whole battlefield is only corporal when necessary; I guess Bacon missed the context about the combat test. 

A crossbow bolt very slowly hit the time bubble, and it popped with an explosive bang. More footsteps in the distance sounded, loud at first but getting quieter. 

"Then I have to stop you." he sighed, looking at Rose. "The question is when."
