I was thinking the same thing :P

Taeidin peers down to inspect the glow.

"We're gonna have to split the rest of this stump to get to it."

"Welp, here goes." Cep takes a few swings at the stump, widening the crack one swing at a time until, finally, the hole is about a foot across. The light obscures whatever may be inside. "That 'bout good? Yeh reckon we jus' reach in there?"

Do you want to say what's in there or do you want me to?

There were lots of drinks, and now two comfortable chairs.
The zombie’s head vaporized, and it fell over dead and dissolved. But there were more shield zombies appearing.

Rebus, assuming Mr. Whitlock was simply going to perform work somewhere that would not threaten his house, did not interfere. The ingots could not be trapped without altering their properties, but that did not mean he was incapable of interfering if it was needed.
Rebus took a quick inventory of himself - his nanomachines were either shut down or absent, his telepathy and Narration were gone, and even the emergency weapons he- he cut off the thought before he revealed all his contingencies.
Is he still enhanced with nanomachines, or are even benign things identified as weapons and deactivated?
Nice - I’m sure it’ll turn out great. Alright. (Ooh, fun) Thank you, and thank you.

Shambling figures were rising out of the ground and moving towards him. The “zombies” didn’t have any weapons, and they were abstract enough that they didn’t trigger the Savior Complex compulsion.

Beosta chose something alcoholic, though she kept her eye out for cherry cola.

She continued aiming at their heads, but she was getting worried.

He was going to gather some supplies. He hoped that Rebus would send notes on how to synthesize the reaction.

He has some experience with Narrators :P

Lady Bug took away every unspecified contingency~

Besides a small side knife, red handled with a black metal blade.

Footsteps sounded from down the corridor.

Everything’s gone.

Hehe. Lady Bug’s fun.

He nodded.

Good.

lol

"I see."

Shoe helped Beosta into one, then sat in the other.

Well . . . that was weird.

"Indeed, you are."

She gave him a kiss while he was still close by.

He sighed and got them both some water.

He smiled and kissed her back before sitting down.

If you have a plan go right ahead!

Taeidin reaches into the stump and pulls out the source of the light. It is a glass figurine of a person, glowing softly with a soothing yellow light.

"It's a little glass statue."

Cep nods. "Yep. Ah mean, though, why's it important? Why would these orbs be wantin' ta hide it or protect it?"

"Well, I've never seen glass glow before, so that's something."

Taeidin thinks for a moment.

"Maybe the person is important?"

"How many times have you been reincarnated?"

They shrugged (or did the fox equivalent) "Lost count."

"Could be...yeb've never seen this person before?" Cep goes on without pausing. "Ah wonder who might know. Yeh know anyone who knows anythin' 'bout these orbs? Ah guess they might know."

"I can see where someone who knows this person is," Taeidin offers.
