Rose fired the laser at the zombie’s head. 

Mr. Whitlock took several ingots of copper, placed them in a large sack, pulled out a compass that matched Rose’s that Bat had stolen, and vanished. 

Lady Bug manifested him without Narration, with a pair of glasses that he now needed. He had no weapons, and he stood in a dark stone hallway lit only by torches. Heavy metal doors appeared periodically on the walls, vanishing every few seconds. At any given time, there were five or six in sight. A light could be seen down one tunnel, where stairs led upward. 

Gotcha. I may do some more sketches before I decide on the actual composition and color scheme. I’ll go no glasses for now, though he’ll have them in Symbol’s subplot (I might draw them together sometime) because Lady Bug enjoys slighting people in lil ways. I’ll try and design some teleporters and lasers based on the Portal tech, and I’ll find a couple potential poses for Rebus. 

There were lots of drinks, and now two comfortable chairs. 
The zombie’s head vaporized, and it fell over dead and dissolved. But there were more shield zombies appearing. 

Rebus, assuming Mr. Whitlock was simply going to perform work somewhere that would not threaten his house, did not interfere. The ingots could not be trapped without altering their properties, but that did not mean he was incapable of interfering if it was needed. 
Rebus took a quick inventory of himself - his nanomachines were either shut down or absent, his telepathy and Narration were gone, and even the emergency weapons he- he cut off the thought before he revealed all his contingencies. Is he still enhanced with nanomachines, or are even benign things identified as weapons and deactivated?

Shambling figures were rising out of the ground and moving towards him. The “zombies” didn’t have any weapons, and they were abstract enough that they didn’t trigger the Savior Complex compulsion.
