Some cookies ended up on Rebus’s moon, and his nanomachines ate them to self replicate. Some rabbits, weird mollusk-dragons, and invisible snakes were also very happy. The dreaded Eerf-netulg, on the other hand, was very much unhappy. It sulked in its mountain lair.

Yup. Ever tried to find cookies that were actually good but still gluten free? It’s hard. 
Rebus had been talking to Beosta, but that might have been ongoing from last night. He’d thought the baking product precipitation had been partially Shoe’s doing, which had been what he was talking about.

Depends if the cookies can do things. If they don’t, you probably don’t need anything. It’s a funny background event, or maybe foreshadowing.

Taeidin starts off in the direction he had indicated. Before long, the forest clears into farmland. They can see a small town sitting at the top of a hill a little while away, with cottages speckling the fields around it.

When they reach the town, it initially seems strangely quiet—no activity of any kind. Then a small child, about five years old, runs out from one of the buildings and hugs Cep. Cep looks at the boy in surprise.

Yeah, I agree with that actually... Decasel, centisil, millicil... I like it .
 

What does everyone else think about adopting these words to refer to certain numbers of pages? Decasel is 10 pages, centisil is 100, millicil is 1,000. 
"Obi-Wan... Now that is a name I haven't heard in many millisels..."
"Oh yeah, I've been trapped here since last centisil!"
"Last I saw them was a couple decasels ago."
