Chord accompanied him, acting as an ordinary music box - interspersed with giggles.
Rebus nodded. “That would be just fine.”
“Very true.”
Wow, that day passed very quickly - I can believe the sun is setting again. :P

“Of course! I can do lots of different things - what kinds of capabilities do you want? I could work in the same thing that lets me make the walls look like a horizon if you wanted camouflage, for instance. And of course there’s the question of whether you’re willing to connect your nerves to the tattoos - it lets you have mental control over them, but many people are understandably squeamish.”

“Certainly.”

Rebus constructed a new one for him. “Feel free to take all the time you’d like writing down what you can do and what you want to do.” Because I’m going to bed - I have a swim meet early tomorrow morning.

Snow fascinatedly watched Chord the entire time. He giggled too.

Mr. Whitlock smiled and started down a path.

Symbol shook her head. "I apologize," she told you. "I got mixed up." She tilted her head contemplatively at the colors. Somehow it did feel like an ending.

She hesitated, but her interest overcame her caution. "Camouflage? Control my nerves how?"

Well, Chord couldn’t see from in the machine, anyway… “Great! I’ll tell-“ the doorbell rang “-him. Huh. That was fast.”
Rebus thought the sunset was quite beautiful, now that he knew what it looked like.
Symbol hasn’t been described in a while.

Rebus thought as much. He’d still be strange, but would probably be less unfamiliar with time. And he might become less of a Narrator with time as well, though as the planet showed that wouldn’t make it much harder to kill people with a thought.
Rebus put his hands up to show he wasn’t carrying any weapons, though again that wouldn’t make it much harder to kill people with a thought (Shoe would, though).

“Hello Shoe, Beosta. I’ve been trying to form an organization that now that I think about it needs a name. Anyway, the people I recruit - which I hope includes you two - get some training and then promise to fight anyone trying to destroy or conquer the Thread.”
Rebus mixed together the picture and what Symbol had said, continuing to admire the sunrise.

“I’m putting together a headquarters now.”
“In order for that to happen, you’d have to be extremely self-defeating yet still manage to be the greatest thread to the Thread - and because of the way protagonists work, yourself - then save everyone from you. We could split the burden and have one person earn Protagonist and one earn Antagonist, but at that point it’s easier to just destroy them rather than risking them falling into the wrong hands. Even then, I did consider the idea - or permanently forging the Blades together - but I decided that the person may end up as a Tragic Hero instead, which does not do what you want.”

“Well, that’s excellent, but teleporters are almost always of use. Also, what? Anyway, Plotblades are magical weapons which impose patterns of fiction onto reality. One of them is Antagonist - in order to get it, you must already antagonize people, but once you have it you become a better Antagonist, with plot armor and all. I’m trying to earn it so that someone likely to kill me can’t, which means I need to cause problems.”

Cricket nodded. Maybe . . . glimmers of hope began to form in his head. He would save the Thread.

"Uh . . . what's going on?"

-

He chuckled and pulled her into a short hug.

It's okay. Go ahead.

ohhhhhhh good luck! Have fun! :D

Shoe shrugged and took it.

Thanks. Alright.

The woman didn't reply. She put her hand on the wall where the wavering was strongest, and, with some effort, pushed through (though it took a couple of seconds). She gradually eased her entire body into the wall.

-

She blushed and flipped the notebook open, revealing a full page of words.

And another.

And another.

The notebook was almost full.

Hmm. Here.

He handed her the notepad Rebus had conjured up for him.

She blushed harder.

"No, er... the notebook is my list. I've been listing for a while."

He blinked.

Ohhhh . . . what kind of stuff did you write down?

He peeked over her shoulder.

Oh!

Cool. :3

Weird, Tam thought to herself, biting back a smile.

-

Shoe sighed.

Really? Hmm . . .

"Talk to him?"

Shoe snorted and smiled.

. . .

Wait- hey, that's my notepad!

He shifted through his pockets to find that, indeed, his notepad was missing.

Nevermind, he sighed.

Well? Do you like it?

He grabbed her again. "No. No! Tam, you're not yourself. I'm not going to trust your judgement when you're not you! Go to my cabin. Wait for me there. I'll use my compass."

-

Pretty much any mainstream superpower you could think of.

iron skin, flying, levitation, make animals listen to you (that one was actually a jibe at Livetha, who had stolen Beosta's polishing cloth at one point), lightning arrows, make lightning storms, never feel pain, automatically make people in pain...

The list went on, getting increasingly more bizarre.

He grabbed both her shoulders and glared harder than he'd ever glared in his life.

"Yes, you are. If I have to sedate you and teleport you back to my family, I will. You are not walking through this wall, Tam. Not on my life."

-

She turned even redder. "W-well... what's that supposed to mean??"

"Doubt you actually could," she muttered.

She didn't make any further moves towards the doorway, however.

He squeezed her in a hug and chuckled again.

These are things that fit you well, is all. It's not a bad thing.

“Then it’s okay then,” she mumbled.
