Me neither. We should find somewhere to stay, though. “No, thanks. We’re okay.”

The girl looked disappointed. “Are you sure? My dad owns a bed and breakfast…”

She just chuckled, grabbed his ankles, and started dragging him away.

-

"Oh. Well . . . do you know what you like to read?"

-

. . . Oh. Well . . . that's a little different, I guess.

He shrugged. What do you think?

"And you?" She asked Bat.

He hesitated. "I... I don't know... losing Tam."

She pursed her lips, clearly dissatisfied. She turned to Tam for clarification.

He squeaked and grabbed onto the leg of a seat.

She shook her head.

...I dunno, she hedged. I guess we can go see how it looks...

"Oh. Well . . . hmm . . ."

She pulled the sopping wet firearm magazine (STILL PAPER) out of her belt and held it out.

"Eh?"

-

He shrugged.

It's definitely less suspicious if it's a legit place to stay.

-

She was a little confused about what Lady Bug wanted clarification on.

That's a completely different question, Lady Bug. Anyway . . . um . . . yeah, losing people he cares about, probably.

She squeezed his hand.

Right? I can't think of anything else right now . . .

"And... and that it'll be my fault," Bat mumbled.

Lady Bug nodded. "And why is that?"

"Huh?"

"Why are you afraid of that?" She asked impatiently.

"I... I guess cuz I break stuff... I don't know."

Alright. What kind of backstory are you thinking, then?

Where's Heir been, btw? Do you know?

It took a while, but eventually the noises of outrage began.

Five smiled and looked down at her hands.

Beosta nodded her agreement.

“How much?” She asked.

“Oh, free for the first night for travelers,” the inkeeper told them.

“Symbol, like me, has a natural fear of being powerless. I figured we could play on that, as well as tack on some others. Fear of betrayal, perhaps. Abandonment.”

Really? Huh. That's convenient.

Spoiler

Alright . . . hmm . . .

She thought for a moment.

Abandonment could be a good place to start. By close friends, maybe? Family wouldn't make a lot of sense. A fear of being alone.

Yeah . . . :(

@Dragonheir, you okay?

Shoe nodded gratefully.

This doesn't seem too bad, he remarked to Beosta.

That . . . might not be that difficult. I lost most of my previous memories when I became a Narrator. It just happens to characters who become Narrators.
