A statue emerged from the ground, a simple carving of a cowled woman. She stood with her hands together, staring forward, expression neutral.

Symbol summoned an elegant monocle and let it float several inches in front of her face. She stepped forward and tapped the top of the statue, then the fingertips. 

“Solid. I did a good job,” she appraised. “I would have expected it to begin cracking, even having tempered her power already.” 

She turned to Rebus. “She is, currently, dead again. But the idea of her lives, as does her body. I find it reassuring that Lady Bug, being who she is, was indeed limited as I’d hoped.”

“You’re supposed to learn something in order to pass the test. These mirrors embody aspects of your personality or alternative versions of you. I think there’s a way to pick one.” 
Rebus smiled. “Excellent work, both the statue and the failsafes. Shall we speak to her?”

The woman laughed, and she let herself get hit, her skin bleeding and quickly healing. She grinned, and a spear of golden light burst forwards from her.

 

 

Drin took her shoulder, looking her in her eyes. “Listen to me, Atlas. Your brother is out there somewhere. And we are going to find him. I promise you.”

I was trying to figure out a way to make suggestions, and this was the only thing that came to mind. In retrospect, I probably should have used Capt’n Exposition.
