Aden killed the jeep and jumped out. 

“I hear it too,” Five agreed, arms tightening around his.

Qodi shrank. As she shrank, Gail gradually felt her own strength returning. Qodi did not take back any of the wounds. Or the pain. 

“She’s my bondmate,” Gail explained. 

She frowned at it.

Bat walked closer to Tam. 

“Quite. As far as I can tell, humans wither when not driven with a cause. Is that perhaps the model for humanity, or is there more?”

Since this all occurred slightly before dudeguy fell from the sky, Gail hesitantly stood up and made her way to the stand. Hopefully that was what she was supposed to do. 

He nodded, and took her hand, and teleported them both.

She grit her teeth against the pain and waited for her head to stop spinning.

F-fine. You?

The wound on Bat's arm reopened rather bloodily and painfully, and the thing that had grabbed his foot started to drag him backwards.

He smiled at her, hoping she'd be okay. He walked over and grabbed the weapon by the door, standing right next to the frame

Fine. He hardly felt the gash after the numbing. 

He yelped and twisted, slashing Illusion through the thing. It was not under the impression that he had escaped off to the right.

The illusion ended for the monster, as he didn’t have the energy to keep it going.

She began to step out, opening the hood of the jeep at the same time, taking scissors and cutting wires and tubes before walking to the door.

He walked back over to take Five's hand. "What happened, Aden?"

Two tentacles whipped out of the ground and wrapped themselves around Tam. She shrieked and became small to escape, then hobbled over to Bat.

Two more tentacles wrapped around Bat, but she turned them to water and they slipped to the floor before re-solidifying into a disgusting pile of organic matter.

Something shrieked somewhere in the cave.
