She fetched her a muffin just as Bat came out carrying a precarious stack of biohazardous plates  

Bat felt very happy. He’d spent the last ten minutes yapping off every detail of everything that had happened to his dad. Including the part where he was maybe in love with a Narrator. His dad had nodded along absently, tinkering with something with tiny gears, and then hugged him when he was finished. 

“Ready to go?” He dumped the plates in the sink.

Snow burst into dramatic hysterics when he saw she was leaving, then peeked to see if she was paying attention. Bat snorted and led her out the door. 

The light was a warm amber now, rather than blue as it was at nigjt.
