A clean change of clothes appeared on the table behind them, and she laughed softly.

Honestly, a hot shower sounded really nice . . .

Speaking of showers . . .

Be back in a bit :D

"Oh! Perfect." He picked another leaf out of her hair. "I could go start the water, if you want."

She squeaked and ducked behind the tree. A glowing golden snake latched onto Cadewyn's arm.

"Cadewyn looked at the snake disparagingly. "And who might you be?" Blue flames started crawling up the snakes face from Cadewyn's arm.

Well, she was perfectly capable of doing it herself . . .

But he seemed so eager to help . . .

She smiled a little and nodded to him gratefully.

It hissed and sucked in the fire through its fangs.

Eepy whimpered from behind the tree.

"He wants my magic," Eepy whimpered.

He felt his abilities sucking out of him into the snake.

"Great." Cadewyn dropped his sword and used his other hand to grab just behind the snake's head. "I don't rely on magic to help me. I don't rely on people." He started squeezing, crushing the snake's throat. "But, you are threatening something that I protect." he squeezed harder, and growled, voice hissing and grinding, inhuman, "Back. Off."

She smiled after him and picked up the clothing she'd summoned.

It felt lonely in here, now that the room was empty. Colder.

She sighed and started walking after him.

Jk there's no hot water -__-

AW BOOO

He spent maybe a good two minutes messing with the temperature. "I don't know how hot you like it, but it shouldn't burn you."

YEAH FR

*sigh*

stupid dishwasher and/or sister

She put a hand over her mouth to hide her smile.

That was a little excessive . . . but still really sweet, so whatever.

She nodded to him and set her clothes on the bathroom counter, then looked in the mirror.

Ugh. She looked even worse than she'd thought.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

He hugged her one more time. "Please don't take too long. Okay?"

"It can't understand you," Eepy whispered. "Just kill it. It's... a parasite."

"Good." He crushed it's neck, the head falling limp, barely connected to the body. "Eepy, how do you like snake flesh?"

Suddenly he was hesitant to leave her. But... she probably needed a break, so he let go, smiled, and left.

Cadewyn let go, dropping the corpse. He suddenly went limp and fell, barely catching himself, then sank to his knees.

"Sorry, Eepy..." He breathed heavily, as if  exhausted. "This... This is why I don't fight. This is what that too large power on my broken soul is doing to me." He looked at the ground, ears turning bright red with shame. "I'm... Sorry."

The tree rustled again and something shot out toward Eepy.

"Me too," Rose agreed, levity dissolving. She collapsed back onto her bed, staring up at the ceiling. "Monsters make sense."

"Oh, Tam..." He stood up and hugged her tightly.

"I know." he said softly, gazing at her. "People... Bat understands them so much better than I do."

“Saved me.”

Suddenly he was hesitant to leave her. But... she probably needed a break, so he let go, smiled, and left.

She shut the door behind him and looked at herself in the mirror again.

Gosh . . . she really did look awful.

She sighed and undressed, then got in the shower.

. . .

. . . She made it a little bit warmer.

She washed herself off fairly quickly and picked all the vegetation out of her hair- of which there was an excessive amount, for some reason.

And then . . . she kinda just stood there.

It felt really, really good. When was the last time she'd taken a shower? She didn't need to, so it made sense not to, but . . . she hadn't realized what she'd been missing out on, all that time.

She just let all her concerns drift away with the steam . . .

Except . . . well, there was one thing that wouldn't go away.

Here Bat was, taking care of her, when she should not only be taking care of herself, but protecting him as well. What good was being a god when you couldn't even protect the people you cared about? What was the point of having these powers if you couldn't even use them in most fights? What good was being almost all-powerful when you couldn't even stop . . . stop Bat from almost . . .

Scud, what was she doing?! She'd left him alone! This was the second time she'd put his life in danger today!

She started to get out, but stopped.

What if he wasn't there? What if he'd gone of into the woods somewhere and it took her too long to find him? Better to find out where he was here, then go find him.

She sat on the floor of the shower and, water spraying over the back of her head, Narrated an image of where he was into her mind.

“I know. What happened to the caveman days, where we were proud of ourselves when our friends realized we were dying from lack of circulation to the brain and let us out of the chokehold?”

@Halcyon The Only

He was sitting on his bed, sketching in his notebook. They were very basic sketches, and looked similar in style to his tattoos.

He was also worried about her, but she likely couldn’t tell.

“Like in books,” she agreed. “Where every character basically thinks the same way. You can tell, even beneath everything the author tries to do, that they’re all variations of the writer. Why can’t we be like that, huh?”

She lapped at his tear with her skinny lil tongue.

“Just a snake,” she said. “Stop sadding.”
