She summoned some ingredients and got to work.

Bat didn't know what to do with himself. He... really didn't want to go help, and he didn't wanna sit here like an idiot. So he moved to the sink to wash dishes.

She nodded to him in thanks.

When it was almost ready, she asked him to get a couple plates, and put the food in a glass bowl so she could store the extra until Rose and Cricket got back.

He did everything she asked with absolute perfection... besides stumbling and almost breaking a dish. He turned even redder than he had before, feeling stupid, but completed the tasks without further incident.

She dished up a plate for each of them, then went and sat down at the table.

She started eating. She'd already tasted it a couple times, so she knew it was good.

It just didn't . . . something felt off. Not with the food.

She knew what is was, of course, but she didn't know what to do about it.

The mushrooms were nice and tender, and the pork was juicy.

"Thank you," he said, smiling. "It tastes like home, but better."

Her ears tinged pink, and she smiled back wanly.

Spren flitted in from the other room and set herself on the table gently. She was silent.
