He walks down and holds out a hand. Lightning arcs off of it because of the orb, and he studies it, seemingly unperturbed by the electrical arcs. Suddenly, he begins to laugh. “It’s speaking in silence!”

Rebus puts it more simply, stepping back up the stairs as twin pulses of ordered darkness and lightning are emitted from the orb. “So normal computers send electrons around to do math. The orb is seemingly Ennulling electrons out of existence, causing the electron hole - the place the electron isn’t - to propagate through the nanomachines and perform computations in a Silence-y way.” Rebus shrugs, “The lightning here are electrons trying to fill in the holes. I believe this will eventually get problematic - acids have electron deficients, and random lightning is probably bad for people not made of nanomachines, and even those who are.”
