Don’t worry. She’s coming back.

Also idk what that is.

It’s also like dark souls, but slightly different

all the enemies are extremely tanks bosses, and you take quests to hunt them down and get magical materials from them.

If they get low enough, they run away and you have to follow em

Rose stepped back. “Go away.”

“Yeah,” Bat agreed. “Not happening.”

True.

He got up and walked around the beach a little, picking up a stick and a leaf and making a little flag.

He brought it back and handed it to Beosta, then started collecting little shells that were nearby.

-

Ten more butterflies landed on her clothing.

Where do the spirits come from, anyway? They seem to believe in her.

"Yeah, I guess."

Another butterfly landed on Rose's knee.

She shrugged. "I guess that makes sense. Not sure how that helps us, though- we aren't exactly about to send Cricket to fight Malan."

“But would you go with Cricket to fight Malan?”

"That," she started, sitting on the ground nearby, "depends on a lot of things. Where Malan is, what he's doing, under what circumstances we've agreed to meet (if that's the case), etcetera."

She stuck the flag in the top of the tower. “Now we just need armies to invade and die in the conquering.”

“World die.” The leaf spirit spun around by the flag. “World die Lytikyria.”

“That,” Bat agreed. “She’s right. I wanna change my answer. But I probably would.”

Rose scowled at the butterflies. “What are you DOING? I’m not very delicious. You wanna turn into crumbly ash? That metal touched me and turned into crumbly ash. So beware.”

Hmm. That doesn't sound very good, does it? Shoe said, looking at the little spirit.

-

Tam shrugged. "So would I, if it came to it."

-

There was suddenly a loud rustling sound, and one thousand butterflies descended from the sky and alighted on her.

“No good,” the spirit agreed happily. “Want Lytikyria happy.”

“Wonderful,” Beosta sighed. “Why don’t you go do that.”

“Need learn more.” The spirit bobbed back to the others.

Bar decided to reorder his bag. “Tam, can you check my Nullite for that black stuff?”

Rose fell over.

She proceeded to shout foul cursings at the butterflies in her language.

What do you need to learn more about?

-

She nodded and, after a moment, handed him a thermometer-like device.

"Stick it in the ink."

-

Tam watched Rose, amused.

"Wait, Bat, do you speak a different language, too?"

The butterflies tried to pick Rose up off the ground, but only succeeded in lifting her a few feet before they gave up and flapped away. They were very strong butterflies.

They dropped her to the ground with a thud.

“More words to tell you.”

He did so.

The ink was pure.

—-

“Oh—“ He looked suddenly uncomfortable. “A- A little.”

“Bat,” Rose yelled as a warning, then yelped as the butterflies dropped her.

“Idiots,” she yelled, “of insecture intelligence! They are insects, right?”

Oh. So, you're all just going to stick around until you learn to speak well?

-

"Well, that's a relief."

-

"What's wrong?" she asked him.

A bee buzzed past Rose.

“Until we learn to speak well!”

”I’m not complaining,” Beosta promised them.

“Yup.” He smiled, then pulled out his tattoo needle.

“Nothing. I’m not supposed to talk about it.”

Rose eyed the bee.

Well, okay then. He shrugged. You're welcome to stick around then, I guess.

-

"Oh. Okay then," she said, trying to hide her curiosity.

But the bee was just a normal bee, however, and didn't bother her.

The pack of wolves eyeing her from the woods, on the other hand . . .

Thank you, actually. Not "thanks you."

"Not inherently, no. It'd be easy to learn one though, I suppose. For me."

She shrugged.

-

Tam suddenly appeared right behind Rose, uncomfortably close.

"Boo!"

The wolves laid down at the edge of the forest, waiting.

She whirled around, knocking Tam away.

“Sorry,” she mumbled.

They bounced, happy, while Beosta finished the castle.

“Good.”

Rose scowled at the empty air.

Shoe added some shells around the exterior as decoration.

Perfect, he smiled.

She shrugged a third time. "Yeah."

-

One of the butterflies from earlier flitted past. It was carrying a dead mouse, for some reason.

Rose thought maybe that was something those things did.

It still disturbed her.

Indeed. The Thread could be a disturbing place.

For now, though, it was peaceful.

Except for the wolves, of course.

Rose watched them, trying to stay close to Bat and Tam. She wouldn’t put it past Tam to let them eat her, but Bat was too nice for his own good.

Likewise.

"But . . ." She sighed and shook her head.

"I'm fine. I'm just cold, is all . . . I don't want you to have to worry about me all the time."

“Do you know how good it feels to worry about someone besides me?” He grinned.

I'd like that.

"It does?"
