The Scribe waved, and it was so.

———

The Scribe, in an announcement in his office. ”It has come to my attention that there are those whose goals may be to attack Narrators, perhaps kill them. And so, I have begun the initiate “AdaScribe, in order to protect myself against this.”

The Scribe could be seen with numerous books - filled with equations, calculations, and even doodle in certain parts of the books.

That copy of Rebus stays a box on the wall, Narrating whatever Parasite’s interface requires.
Rebus sees the wisdom in the preparations, but wonders who the announcement was for.

@NameIess Malevolence gets a secret message.

Spoiler

Malevolence. Your tenacity does you credit. Malan is a fool for sending you up against all-powerful beings and rebuking you when you fail. We have a far more interesting task for you. The book that caused your defeat? There are more items like it, generally in the shape of blades. The two most powerful of these Plotblades are Antagonist and Protagonist. We will give you access to almost all the resources we possess if you agree to acquire these for us. They will likely be revealed over the course of a current legal trial, and there will likely be additional groups intending to steal them. If you wish, we will grant you the remains of these weapons once we have extracted what is needed from them. We’ll grant you a much more useful lesson in evil, as well. The Machination shall not be stopped.

Endings is the most dangerous, but Protagonist and Antagonist are supposedly the most powerful. You see, protagonists almost always win in the end, and antagonists almost always have substantially more power than the protagonist. Also, how dare you read my secret mission instructions!

If so, I think it should be something whimsical, like to share or give something that belongs to you. The Scibe nodded. “I believe expulsion should be one of the more minor penalties - and imprisonment should occur in only cases when the offender would be even too dangerous outside of Enturis.”

The Scribe Narrated a small tag on his shirt, reading, “Security Consultant.”

Rebus waits with Afterimage, ready to non-Narratively teleport him to Rebus prime, should there be a need to do so.

“Yes… a warning, then temporary expulsion, then permanent expulsion, then imprisonment, in order of harshness. Ennullers potentially have more resources to imprison people, anyway.”

A second version of Rebus appears near the Interface. “Alright, you’re supposed to mind control me?”

“No cost,” she insisted. “No cost but the agreement of the rules.”

Tam turned herself into a crab and scuttled between the bars of the cage towards Cricket and Bat.

“I’m okay. I already patched up Cricket.”

The figure turned, slapping Palsu across the face, sending him flying. To the side, Perseus leapt at him, unsheathing his knives, and striking.

The still very unstable ceiling unfortunately collapsed on top of the assassin, before Perseus could leap at him. Which was somewhat fortunate, considering it left the attacker buried underneath a stone that was shaped and sized exactly like an elephant.

Faunus smiled, “Well, that was rather good timing, wouldn’t you say.” She said to no one in particular, clearly proud of herself.

“Wait, you’re telling me, this is a three elephant problem?” Faunus asked, aghast, then shrugged.

Two more stones coincidentally dropped on top of the first stone elephant, the next two also elephants, although slightly smaller so they stacked nicely. Either way, it was a lot of weight, and blood slowly started to seep out from under the first elephant.

I want to quit. Malevolence sent. You're a terrible boss, your plans are worthless, and I'm barely improving under your leadership. I feel that I would be better served by devoting my time to other, more competent masters of evil.

This is a most excellent proposal! I will be more than happy to accept. And as my schedule has just recently opened up, I am sure to be able to deliver these Plotblades

Actually Vengeance has the most raw power. When Plot died he wished for nothing more than Vengeance against the Narrators that had killed him, which led to Vengeance getting more power than it otherwise deserved as a plot element. Endings is a dangerous Plotblade, but not the most powerful or the most dangerous. Protagonist and Antagonist are the most powerful Plotblades not because of the raw power they grant, but because of how they allow one to gather power. Both Protagonists and Antagonists are always getting powerups and finding magical artifacts that make them incredibly strong.

“That sadly means we cannot give the Render a power up. I do not communicate into Ragnorok, but I - or, the original, rather - can read the Thread, which communicates out. And the Dreamsmith makes you an item that fulfills your stated needs if you can pass Omen’s trial. You cannot communicate out of the trial, however, so all your plans would have to be on hold or handled by deputies.”
