The man wrote quickly. How do the Enullers stand it?

He shrugs. "I have a few plans... The foreshadowing and conspiring should be first."

Rebus sighs. "I don't think natural Ennullers are quite like this. If they are, they can probably Ennull the pain away."

The Emperor's surroundings melt away into mist, the cloaked woman and her dread blade vanishing.

"A noble answer."  The clanging of hammer on anvil fills the Emperor's ears, resonating with the metallic tone of the voice that now speaks. "You seek to defeat evil with morals intact. A worthy goal. Now, tell me about these inhabitants of the Maelstrom."

"The Dreamsmith." The Emperor mutters as he immediately bows to one knee. "They seek to destroy all things within all of the planes. Those who do not bow to them shall die and those who do, will live in an eternity of a torturous hell." He says not looking up.

"A lousy excuse. For all you bloody know, I could've died!" He scowls at Tellin and continues walking. Further ahead he subconsciously thinks of something different other than hallways, and without knowing, narrates a staircase at the end of the hallway. He starts to go up.

The pain faded quickly. writes the unfortunate person. The numbness is what I write of. I can barely feel anything sensation. My ears dull, my eyesight dims. I fear that soon all of my senses will be utterly destroyed.

“Please rise. I am merely a humble smith, unworthy of your praise.” The pounding of metal on metal ceases as the Dreamsmith stands up from his forge, walking over to kneel in front of the Emperor. “These demons sound terrible. Do they have any strengths that make them difficult to defeat or weaknesses that can be exploited? What sort of weapon should I forge you?”

Well, Rebus did molecularly bond it to his cells, which was perhaps not the best decision.

"I believe he did become an Ennuller. But it isn't all bad. He should have the power to save his family, and I didn't give you Ennuller powers, which I imagine you would not want."

Bat continued to be very disturbed.

“Yeah, yeah.”

Low voices could be heard off to the side, behind a strangely placed door.

Rebus sighs again. “I’m sorry. I failed, and you’ve paid the price. Who was the Narrator, so I can at least vindicate you?” He tries to bring in more nanomachines, to at least determine what is wrong. Maybe this no-longer-convenient person could actually be saved.

The nanomachines that enter the unfortunate person show evidence of power source suppression in the brief moments before they are disabled.

It was Subversion, and I will take vengeance on her myself. I am still immune to Narration, even if I’m not an Enuller, I’ll find some way to kill her. The man’s eyes burn with hatred even as they dull into blindness. All my father did was ask to avoid his fated fading, and look what she did to him! He’s nothing more than a monster now. My mother went to ask Subversion to change him back, and instead she got the same fate! I’m all that’s left, and I will kill Subversion and end my parent’s suffering one way or another.

The last light fades from the man’s eyes, but the anger remains.

Rebus’s mouth twitches. “I wish you luck. I would give you more assistance, but you’re causing my nanomachines to lose power. I’d like to avoid you destroying the containment field for a larger amount of antimatter.”

Bat was now extremely disturbed. Was he an Ennuller of some kind?

For some reason, that felt like one of the worst things he could possibly be.

Tam definitely . . . shared Bat's sentiment.

Aha! I knew this had something to with Subversion . . . Tam thought to herself.

Granted . . . that wasn't exactly the direction I thought this had been going . . .

Bat didn’t like all the talk that was going on. He replaced his dive gear and returned to the water.

Tam poked her head out from where she was hiding briefly before regretting it and pulling it back in. She didn't feel ready to be social again quite yet, so she stayed hidden.

She was feeling a bit better though, which was nice.

Before he gets into the water, Rebus constructs a small device and hands it to him. “This is a teleportation beacon. If you need me, pull it apart and twist; I’ll be sent a message. It should be effectively indestructible, but if you do somehow break it, it will probably explode. Farewell.” He blows apart into utility fog, though that does wait for a response.

Bat shadowed Gaioh, who was just exploring.

He was bored.

Oh, look, a small boat in the distance.

Bat was no longer bored. Now he was just worried.

He stared at it. He didn’t think he wanted it, but not wishing to be rude, tucked it into his pocket.

Rebus, back in his moon, shrugs. “That’s understandable. Nobody did accept my invitations, either.” He attends to his plans and foreshadowing, the other copies of him doing the same. One frowns at a screen. “Our Author made a mistake. We still need Onyx, but Omen is a different person.”
Rebus sends out his desire to find the Dreamsmith, though he knows his Author will be on a plane flight for the near future. @NameIess

He feels Omen’s acknowledgement, and knows that his trial will be prepared.

Malan thought this would break me, drive me insane, but I’m already too broken. he muttered darkly.

Near Tam and Bat, a cloaked man, dressed in black, appeared. His hood was pulled low, but he raised a gauntleted hand in a friendly gesture.  “Hello, Lennox, I presume?” he asked.

Cricket . . . she sighed.

Since they were both underwater, Tam narrowed her eyes and retreated into the coral once more.

No, no. I'm glad Malan gave this to me. I know the truth, and it gives me hope.

The man sighed, undeterred, and spoke in her mind. Tell Chaisler to come, at least, Lennox. That'll save you a lot a\of unnecessary pain, and me a lot of unnecessary work.

Why? she asked carefully.

I know, I know, it’s just… I hate not knowing the truth. And now I do, and don’t know what to make of it.

None of your business. Just get him here, Lennox, or your friend gets his tattooed neck slit open. Name’s Stone, by the way.

She immediately shot out of her hiding place towards Bat, wrapping her arms protectively around him.

DON'T TOUCH HIM! she roared.

@Halcyon The Only Bat's going to be very confused lol
