O I meant “I”

“I know!”

“Well, I would remind you that you aren’t the only Narrator around! And my Narrator master, this ‘Scribe’” he said this mockingly, “is very powerful. Just ask Bacon the Bard, hmmmm?”

“I could have The Scribe bring her to us. But, sadly, her powers have been… stripped from her, so she wouldn’t be able to make this as interesting! Bacon the Tax Collector interesting, if you know what I mean.”

I have a character named Madness… and there was a whole debacle about gmodding…

(Soory y’all)

“He is… the extension of my Author’s will. He created every other one of my authors characters, or set in motion their creation, though he does not actively control the ones he deems protagonists and some of the antagonists. He doesn’t actively control anyone, really. But at times, he needs to… nudge… things, to make a plot play out. He created Madness.”

"I see. My Author has a similar intermediary. And you suppose you can trust this Scribe?"

 Yes.

Then perhaps we will have to take a field trip.

“At… at times. The Scribe… he isn’t bad. Definitely not. But he’s not exactly good. It’s all about preserving his plot, for him. But recently, he has been… branching out. Going away from a set plot.”

To my homeworld? Well… it’s not there. Not on my planet. But… perhaps Wriulin found some. I heard some buzz, supposedly Wriulin had done something important.

Only a couple weeks? To live? You seem oddly calm about that.

She nodded, seeming a bit lost in thought.

Gaioh shrugged. “I… Incouod get another surgery. But I was never supposed to be alive for this time in the first place. I don’t know.”

“Of course. I personally don’t care, beyond pointing out canonical inconsistencies. Or perhaps repetition. Doesn’t this world feel contradictory sometimes?” The voice had turned almost mocking, almost gleeful.

I read that, but Rebus’s drone didn’t, so explanation and description will be needed anyway.
Rebus’s drone looks around again. Rebus, in his control room, waits for the description of the area before he activates it. He’d dropped it into the focus of this plot, so he didn’t know where or with whom it had appeared. It was for the other Author and the winds of the plot to decide.

Rebus, far away in a room full of utility fog and control screens, shudders. “Note to self: avoid that person. Whoever they may be.” Then he catches another impression from the Thread. “What?” He goes to teleport to the disturbance- THAT IS FORBIDDEN, REBUS. You should not interfere with your own characters, you should know this. Other Authors should have this role, not you. Rebus snaps back to canonical reality, dazed from being spoken to directly by his Author. “What was that for? I want to do something! Let me do something - don’t make more characters! I’m bored!” But his Author gives no further response.

Out in the somewhere of the Thread, Template wakes up. They observe where they are, and then simply exist. There is nothing they want and nothing they need, so they do nothing.

Lady Bug appeared by Template and examined them with a thoughtfulness that seemed… uncharacteristic.

They look at Lady Bug. “Hello.” Then they go back to just existing. As for the result of examining them, there is no significant features. In fact, there are essentially no details at all; Template barely exists on a Narrative level.

“Hmm.”

She touched Template’s forehead. Fluffy, perfect hair sprouted from his head. A strong jawline formed, along with soft eyes. His height settled at about 5’11”.

“You’ll be soft spoken and sweet,” she told Template. “Somebody they will trust. You will observe. Your hearing will be perfect— you’ll be able to hear a lie by the way the pulse rises. You need no past. You will be loyal to me, and when I say the name by which you were first called, you will return to a blank state. I will call you Owen, though if you find a better name, you may keep it instead.

”You will be curious, especially as to the nature of your existence and the world around you. You will tirelessly seek answers, hardly considering the challenges.

“And you will always, always listen to me.”

"You're a good crow," she said, scratching the bird's head gently. "Sorry about earlier."

The crow ruffled its feathers (which were covered in sand) and poked her gently with its beak.

"Yeah, you too," she said to it, smiling.

Then the crow turned back to Bat and opened its beak, dropping a flower into Bat's palm. It was crushed and a little sandy, but it was unmistakably the same flower that Tam had given him earlier in the day.

The crow puffed its chest out proudly.

Their wounds were pretty bad, so I’m not certain whether or not they even survived.” She began to get a bit emotional, wiping some small tears from her eyes. “Part of me hopes they did.
