Sigh. That's not what I meant. Being confident can help just don't be too confident. But still feel emotions

[Hang on. I looked up confidence. And I looked up pride. Every source said they were different... but none said why. Do you know why?]

Pyk nodded. "The technology violates most every natural law we have observed."

"Precedent based? Perhaps that is better... do you have recordings? And how fast can you play them without the compression being overly lossy? Don't worry about whether I can understand it."

@Ookla the Bacon

Did i miss a reply from you? (I'm not trying to be passive aggressive; I just genuinely do not know if I did...)

Asher nods to "yeah humans shouldn't fly they should be walking. All this tech stuff is confusing and uncanny"

Pyk nodded. "There are those who would take this farther. Who research, rather than the interaction of the Dragonblood and the world, but the Dragonblood and the body."

[I guess I'll just make a dividing line where is prudent, then. *sigh* I've put a complex algorithm in place to calculate the probability of something bad happening from the feelings of confidence/pride, and if it is over 50%, I flag it as pride.]

Asher shakes their head. "And what's dragon blood again? Do I know the answer to that? I'm sorry all this new stuff is confusing me." Asher said rubbing the side of their head.

sounds fair enough.

"It's not exactly dragon blood, because we can get the material from things other than dragons. But the first place we observed it was in the blood of dragons. What it does, essentially, is create forces. Move things. It can do other things, like take and process input, but this is beyond our ability to set up, as one would need to find a way to attune it to the specific function needed. In theory, it can do anything a Mystic can, but with none of the flexibility. It should even be possible to set up an AI with it, but, like I said, this is way beyond our ability."

[Thanks!]

"Most of our trials are recorded... I'll see if I can requisition the records." The adventurer headed off, then shortly afterward returned holding a small tape recorder. "This should have almost every case we've ever tried, and this" he put a book down on the table "Is the explicit laws related to trials."

Ista quickly flipped through the pages, not reading them but making sure she had a view of them. When she was done, she played the tape recorder as fast as it could go. Intellect gave her a summary of the most important information from this. "This will do." She said.

The halls were quiet until a loud clamor erupted from inside the building, and screaming sounded. Pyk looked up, alarmed. He quickened his pace.

[I'm running an analysis on those screams, they seem to be some hundred fifty feet away, down the hall.]

ashers brain switched to fight mode. Instinctively they drew their knife putting on their armor. They stayed near pyk because he knew the place better. "Silver can you figure out what it is"

[There seem to be trace sounds of... oh no. This... this is very bad.]

Ahead in the hall, a golden spear composed of tiny, fine Strands pierced a door, a diplomat on the end of it. The diplomat, with blue tinged skin, was a Mystic, but the Strand surrounded her, cancelling out her powers with black smoke. Pyk widened his eyes, looking back at Asher. "RUN! Tell Silver to transport you to the Yeran Base!" With this, he disappeared.

[Gladly...]

They shifted, appearing in Pyk's lab, which was now shuttered. Pyk seemed to be very worried, studying the Strand device he had shown her. "Is it possible? But... I guess none had tried it before... This is bad..."

"You know how the Dragonblood can do everything a Mystic can? Well... it appears... someone... had the bright idea to ingest the Strands... and now they can do everything the Strands can do. I'm guessing that includes the aggression... It must have been Wriulin." He sowre, and pulled up a video feed, which he casted up to one of the moniters, as well as placed it into his arm device.

[That Strand thingy he showed you earlier? Well, a bunch of people are using those things to hurt people. A Mystic, by the way, is someone who can instinctively manipulate the Dragonblood. They can do whatever the Dragonblood can.]

The video feed showed the streets. From them, numbers of people were leaping through, either propelled by the Strands or pulled along by them. As they moved along, they slaughtered or encased every one of their victims. "I don't think the Mystics know how to respond... they should be able to fight back... but they haven't used them offensively in... well... ever."

pò luk... uh I mean thank you. Wrong language.

Asher watched the footage. Eyes narrowing. They didn't like innocence getting killed. "They just killed them all." asher said under their breath. Asher looked at pyk. Trying to read anything from his body language.

does pyk have his armor on. If not what is his facial expression like. ... is he like scared or sad or shocked.

He did, but it is off now.

Pyk's face was near inscrutable, due to the cloth over his eyes. But his mouth was quirked down in a sharp frown. His shoulders, as well, were slumped. "The Strands are naturally aggressive. They wish to kill... anything... and everything. I know of no way to stop them..."

There was one part of the law that stood out to Ista. "In a trial regarding an offense by a member of the High Council no part of any charge shall be obfuscated in any way, in order that all charges and accusations against them shall be utterly defeated or proven, and all shall know the seriousness of their crime."

Asher just looked at him. They weren't sure what to say. silver what do I do in this situation. What's the best thing to say. How many of those people did he know? Asher tried really hard to think of a solution but quite frankly knew absolutely nothing about this stuff. I wanna help.

"I told you, I have walking powers. Nameless liked the traditional aspects of adventuring, which is why he didn't give me teleportation, but he also wanted me to be able to get around." Moni stared at the temple in the distance. "Let's get closer and make sure nobody's inside the temple before we destroy it."

A dagger shot from the mist, grazing Cricket's ear and thudding into a tree behind him.

A brave adventurer entered the room. "I'll take you to the waiting area with the rest of the witnesses. I'm certain the Great Wizard's lawyer will be ready to see you soon."

Cricket leaped to the side, hand on his belt where his knife was. He would face this head on. Tam, he thought. Tam, are you there?

Perseus nodded. "In Skavi myths, Atreides was powerful, but a fool. Thought he could rule the universe, but fell."

[Yes, though it can be slightly finicky.  Unlike the wonderful creation I am, it has absolutely no autonomy, and so cannot make exceptions. It can be difficult to manage, and is very expensive. That’s why your suits are equipped with jets instead… they are easier to make.]

I forgot to mention that…

The shop is boring. Pyk looked at them, pointing at Asher with a fork. “We are running out of time before our appointment. We gotta go.”

@Ookla the Bacon

”There wasn’t any, really. Our overseers didn’t appreciate it.”

"Wow. That's awful."

James fell silent. A few moments later, a pulse ran through the crowd.

"Oh," he said. "Lunch is over." He stood up. "Back to work, I suppose."

"Well, yeah, we've got lawbooks. What part exactly do you want to examine?"

Subversion gave Bacon a flat stare. Then she sighed, allowing the rain to relent and summoning a chaise lounge to lie down on. "Nogard's not real. And I'm not real either. I just- I-" Her voice broke, and she took a few deep breaths before continuing "It's just... not fair. I never cared before. But now I do." Tears ran down her face with renewed vigor, and she summoned a handkerchief to wipe them away. "Bacon," She said, staring at him with reddened eyes. "nothing here is real. When it gets down to it, nothing really matters. So why... why do I hurt so much?"

"Not real?" said Bacon, arching an eyebrow. "Why on earth would you think that? Do you suppose that just because we are fictional, we are not real?"

The Great Wizard closed his eyes. "My plots, my schemes, I told myself they were for the good of the Thread. Told myself that they were necessary to save everything from the two Plotblades." He shook his head. "Look where I am now. The Plotblades? Still out there. Worse, now everyone knows about them, the odds that they will be found grow ever greater. Because of this, because of my actions, the brave adventurers have decided their best chance is to risk everything on a fool's gamble. My greatest friends hate me, with good reason. How many adventurers have I betrayed, hurt, for nothing? How many have died because of my actions? I am guilty, Selppaenip. I cannot deny it, so I will face justice for my crimes."

"But..." Selppaenip managed, aghast, "If you do this, the Brave Adventurers will claim the Plotblades for themselves, will they not?"

Asher still looked at pyk. Realizing they were probably looking at him for to long looked back at the screen. Staying silent. can you use the interweb thingie to figure out what to say in this situation. Asher wasnt really sure what the internet was but knew a bit about it. Maybe someone on it had answers.
