Do you not know what Linux is? *glare daggers*
Tenth nodded.

I know what Linux is :P But this is, perhaps, the first time that Selppaenip has ever seen a computer.

That is a symptom of your lack of natural control over your soul. Practiced Ennullers- such as myself- can control when our abilities express themselves. Charles concentrated for a moment, and seemed to change. "Like this, for instance. I can speak normally like this, and even sleep if I want to." He changed back. Control is the most important thing for a person to have. And so, that is where we will start.

Tenth nodded.  So… just try to speak normally?

For . . . nothing to change. I want things to stay how they were.

That made her sad. She hugged him.

Then a doubt struck her. How they were when?

"Good, you have now formed your core. This is the source of your powers. All you must do is practice forming it into different ideals."

Cricket smiled, breathing in. "Okay. What next?"

"Imagine yourself drawing upon the power in your core, and channel it into a sphere floating above your hand. I will say that normally forming your energy this way is extremely difficult for newcomers, this is only because newcomers force a barrier in their way by believing that your energy shouldn't disconnect from you. This isn't true. Remember that, even though this power is an extension of you, it isn't constrained by the limits of the flesh."

He hugged her back. When . . . Tam and I were back in the village. Before . . . before Ciara took her. Before my parents died. He shrugged. Even recently. Right after I got her back, but before Bat-

Back when I wasn't an Ennuller . . . he shook his head bitterly.

Anytime . . . anytime I was happy, and the people I cared about were safe.

She nodded. “Yeah. That makes sense.” Honestly, what had she expected? “I’m sorry,” she offered.

It's okay. And thanks.

I can't go back, so it's not like it matters anyway.

He chuckled darkly. Might be.

Thank you again, he told the consultant. I guess . . . sometime soon? Not sure exactly when I'll actually be available.

He turned back to Beosta. We should go find the others.

She nodded. Dang, she felt sad now for whatever reason. That was unfortunate.

Quagmire's head sticks through the wall again. "You are done?"

“Livetha has it. Not me.”

Outside the room, a man waved to Tam from a little ways away. He appeared to be in his forties or fifties, and his gaze was sharp and alert.

Just a man. Oh wait she’s with the big group. Well, he waved  at her anyway

 Livetha did, slowly.

The consultant frowned. "Well, please contact me when you are ready to schedule an appointment."

He handed Shoe a business card, then vanished.

That is unlikely to get you anywhere. When one weeds a garden, one must pull up the problem by the root.

He drew some runes on the side of the wall, and a shimmering object suddenly appeared in the center of the room.

In your case, that means training your willpower and your imagination.

Tenth inspected the object petulantly refusing to be imaginative :).   What is it?

The man beckoned to her.

Beosta was concerned for him, but she also couldn’t shake the feeling of blue.

The man stepped closer once she was away from the others. “I need to speak with a Narrator.”

“Oh, yeah. I’m fine.”
