I thank you. I can see you have a true passion for the cause of the Liebrarians.

And a worthy cause is this!

I have never read the unholy books and would like to offer to become a liebrarian acolyte. You can also put me down as a DA, CoC, and Ghostblood endorser.

Why does it not give me notifications when someone posts here!?!?!?

Oh well. Thank you for joining. You will receive a task soon. When that task is completed, you will be more completely taken into the Liebrary.

I believe it. I mean, there isn't any 'secret continents' lying around. The world isn't 70% covered in water:ph34r:

Does that mean you want to join?

Yes. I do. If you will take me (a lot of guilds have strangely decided to turn me down. I still can't figure it out).

The DA is always accepting test subjects.

Thanks, but no. I've been spiked once, and that's enough. And it was just in my role play that had nothing to do with the Alleyverse.

I understand. The multiple lifetime benefits that include, but are not limited to, gold compounding, the ability to draw in stormlight, power riches, and the chance to be a part of science isn’t for every one*. You  can contact us if you change your mind.

*you already know what I’m going to say here, but it bears repeating. The DA disclaimer applies.

Rekaerb popped into existence. He looked up. His expression darkened. He started yelling into the sky.

"What kind of lame backstory is that? I just pop into existence? Surely you can do better than that!"

Quote

Nope, not really feeling like it.

"Why?"

Quote

I'm lazy. Plus, it seemed like a good backstory for someone like you.

*dramatic sigh* "Can I at least have a character sheet?"

Quote

You aren't even canonical, technically. So no. You can make your own if you want.

"What do you mean, not canonical? I can be canonical if I want to be!"

Quote

If you say so.

"Fine. I'll join this guild here. That will prove I'm canonical."

Quote

Do you even know what this guild is?

"Of course!"

Quote

Explain it, then.

"Don't you already know?"

Quote

know. But do you know?

...

"I'm not going to answer that."

Quote

You don't know. Well, far be it from me to stop you.

"Aren't you literally dictating my every action?"

Quote

You know what I mean.

Rekaerb walked up to the doorway of the guild and rapped on it. While he waited for someone to open the door, he started thinking about his character sheet. Then something struck him.

"Hey!" he called out. "What am I supposed to put in a character sheet?"

Quote

Well, you start with your name.

"I could infer that. What else?"

Quote

You haven't put your name yet.

"...You know what my name is!"

Quote

Everyone else doesn't.

*put-upon sigh* "Fine. My name is Rekaerb. Happy now?"

Quote

Sure, that works.

A moment passed. Rekaerb tapped his foot impatiently. "Well? What's next?"

Quote

Beats me.

"What?"

Quote

I'm too busy to go look it up.

"You mean too lazy!"

Quote

Same difference.

Rekaerb gave up with a sigh. He turned to look at the door, which still hadn't opened. He frowned.

Quote

You know, I don't think it's locked.

Rekaerb tried the door. It was unlocked. Muttering something insulting under his breath, he strode into the room.

Quote

Hey! I heard that!

Inside was an empty receptionist desk. There was a little bowl of mints on the counter. Rekaerb took one. Then another. Then, furtively checking around, dumped the whole bowl into one of his pockets. That done, he looked around for a sign for what he was supposed to do here.

Quote

I'm not going to tell you.

 "I didn't ask!

Quote

You thought about it.

"I didn't do that either!"

Quote

You were about to.

"But... but... Gah!"

Rekaerb glared around the room. His eye fell on a sign on the wall. Liebrarians was written prominently at the top. Under it was a list of names.

"Huh", he said.

He picked up a pen from behind the desk and signed his name at the bottom. He stood back to admire his handiwork.

Quote

Well, now that's done, I have something for you to do.

"Why should I do what you want me to do?"

Quote

Because I created you.

Rekaerb sighed and left the room.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Rekaerb strode across the plain. It was boring.

"Oy!" he called. "What exactly are you having me do here?"

Quote

Character development.

"...Does this mean I get to fill out the next part of my character sheet?"

Quote

Yes.

Rekaerb smiled. "At last..."

He stood up. "So what is it?"

Quote

Investiture.

"What's that?"

Quote

A third state of energy added to physical laws to allow for greater manipulation of reality.

"...What?"

Quote

Magic

"Oh!" Rekaerb looked at the sky thoughtfully. "So, what do I have?"

Quote

You know it already.

"I do?" Rekaerb searched his limited memories and realized that he did in fact know.

He closed his eyes and focused as prepared to use his power.

Quote

Wait! You haven't declared it yet!

"What? Oh, right." He cleared his throat. "Investiture: Epic ability that lets him create replicas of himself, along with any items he carries." He paused. "Is that good?"

Quote

It works. But do be aware that you have weaknesses.

Rekaerb grinned. "I'll deal with that later."

Then he closed his eyes and split into two.

------------------------------------------------------------------

A few minutes later, the various versions of Rekaerb reunited into one. He grinned. "That's the most fun I've had since... well... ever, actually."

Quote

Not surprising, given you've existed for only 37 minutes so far.

"Thirty-seven? Already? Man, how time flies." Rekaerb sighed. "So, is this all I came here for?"

Quote

...No.

"What else, then?"

Quote

You should be finding out in about 5 seconds. Four. Three.

"Wait, what?"

Quote

Get ready. Two. One. Annnnd now!

Suddenly, something exploded out of the ground. Dirt flew outwards in a rush, knocking Rekaerb to the ground. When the dust settled, he slowly stood up, shaking his head to clear it. A building stood in the middle of the field. The door stood open, strangely. Rekaerb walked up to the doorway and looked in.

Inside was a chest. A pretty ordinary-looking chest. It was also empty.

Rekaerb frowned. "Is there supposed to be something in there?"

Quote

Yes.

"Where is it, then?"

Quote

Look closer.

Rekaerb walked over and leaned down to look into the chest. "I still don't see anything. Are you sure..." He trailed off, noticing something small, white and paperlike. He reached down and picked it up.

As he pulled it from the chest, he felt something invisible slide off of it, leaving just the sheet. On it were words, words that - thankfully - he seemed to know already. As he read, a smile began to stretch across his face.

"This is the next thing, isn't it? Wait, don't tell me. I can do this myself." He turned his face towards the sky. "Items: Cloak of Hiding. Makes him invisible. Causes objects thrown at him to pass through him, and causes him to pass through large objects he gets thrown at."

Then he smiled and pulled the cloak from the chest.
