ICanDream Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 Which moment in Stormlight is the most cinematic? Which would look best as a picture? I’m planning on doing some Stormlight based art, and I wondered if you had any recommendations that I should draw. Nothing that involves facial features or people in general beyond silhouettes. (This is for two reasons: I’m bad at drawing people and faces, plus I can never do characters justice and it frustrates me.) So what part of Stormlight is most cinematic? (The ones I’ve already thought about have already been drawn such as Dalinar appraoching Nergaoul and honour’s perpendiculary on the Battle of Thaylen Fields.)

I kept playing in, within my head, as a video and it is absolutely amazing: all the details Brandon put in... The rock grinding sound, the mechanical movements of the creatures, Adolin's panicked fleeing and desperate moves towards the end, the blacking out only to wake-up seeing the gigantic leg being lift up from the debris... This was a pure cinematic moment, the best Brandon ever wrote, IMHO.

Andy92 Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 I think it's tough to beat The Tower from a cinematic moment. The scene in my head that would be the coolest to see on a movie screen is that moment when Dalinar turns to see Bridge Four running back to the battlefield. That scene in general, if shot correctly, would make a truly memorable scene for a film. 2

Dalinar's vision of Kholinar crumbling and lights winking out in the sky while Tanavast says "This isn't just about you. It's about all of them." (really, all of the visions) Just the whole battle at Thaylen City. The Girl Who Looked Up. 3

Starla Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 The Tower is my favorite, but another smaller scene that is vivid in my mind is when Dalinar and Venli are in the vision in Kholinar, and the whole scene begins to crack and fall apart, with Odium light shining through the cracks. Venli is being swept away, but Dalinar is holding his small piece of the vision together, standing strong and unmoving. It's such an amazing description. 3

This is a close 2nd for me.....that was my favorite scene in the book and it would be amazing to see that on the big screen. Stormlight would be super expensive to do properly.

So I'll mix it up with the first time Szeth comes for Elhokar in the hallways during the highstorm (WoR chpt 32 "The One Who Hates"). Crazy fight scene, the changes in perspective offers some really cool camerawork opportunities (thinking Matrix / Inception hallway scene). Also, the Last Clap. I picture a slow motion scene with Adolin screaming and reaching out fearing for his father's life, absolute pandemonium, and Dalinar just catches the falling sword in midair. Woooo. 1
AC12 he/him Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Throwing this one out there but what about the Kaladin flashback where he wins the shards from Helaran and then gives them up in WoK. When I went back and read that it really jumped out at me as something you would see in a movie 2

Adolin vs. 4 duel would be really awesome to watch as well. Pretty much all the action scenes in SA come to think of it will translate really well with a lot of Dr. Strange level CG.
